I've been somewhat absent from my compound for a good while now & some of my equipment is outdated, mainly my arrows, I've experimented with some carbons I picked up on clearence at the big blue god of cheap stuff but plan on buy'n some upper end arrows in a few weeks. Would someone be so kind as to school me on the carbon arrow basics, what do I need to know when choosing my hunting arrows?? FWITW: I'm shoot'n an older High Country at 65lb DW & 28in DL, plan on do'n a few 3d shoots but its mainly a hunt'n bow & want it equiped as so. Thanks in advance.
35 veiws & no reply, oh...I get it, no body wants to talk with the fat kid huh ?? oh yeah, thats what it is.
I have 6 arrows that would be perfect for you in the FS sectiion. Easton fmjs 340 thatll im letting go for almost half what they cost new.
http://forums.bowhunting.com/archery-tackle/49286-easton-fmj-arrows-340-a.html theyre basically brand new.
Ebay. PSE radial x weaves with blazer vanes 1 dozen delivered and cut for $86. Check the chart but 300's would be fine. If you are upgrading 2117's get on a roll and drop the pager for a cellphone, vhs for dvd, and the 8 tracks for pandora as well.
I shoot Easton FMJ's and they are very good arrows. A lot of guys shoot Carbon Express and speak highly of them.
I shot CX Maxima Hunters for a number of years. They were a great arrow. This year I switched to some Piledrivers from some extra weight.
Keep the 2117's, they are not outdated. I still use aluminum with my 60lb and 50lb setups, and have killed an awful lot of deer with them. You'd be better off saving your money until you can upgrade to a newer bow, because that is where the advancements are really noticeable.
HA !! thanks guys, maybe its not so complicated & the learn'n curve aint so sharp after all, I havent kept up with whats new so I was think'n about wall thickness, spine, gn weight of arrow per pounds draw of weight, that kind of stuff. when I hung up my compound ther were all these different sizes of arrows that everyone was try'n, larger diamiter with thin wall thickness = more spine & less weight which make for a faster FPS, fluted shafts, over draws & short arrows, all of this is the very reason I took up a recurve, simplicity. call me a dinosaur. HA !!
