So, about a week after I started at this new account for work. I put in for time off for turkey hunting. I rarely ask for time off, but there seems to be a problem.

    I'll start from the begining.

April first, the company I worked for lost alot of hours at an account that I was working at (security). I spoke to my boss, and he found me at a position at a separate account, same company. So, I went through the interview, and got that job. Mind you, before anyone knew they were loosing this account I had alrady put in for a turkey license. In fact, before I left the last account, I had gotten the license for this coming season.

    The problem.
After putting in for time off (2 days, a monday and wednesday) that would fill in between the regular two days I get off per week (tuesday and thursday). I asked my boss, and he told me he would check in to it.
Now he is saying that he has a lot of other people asking for time off, since it is a holiday week. He isn't sure yet if he is going to be able to loose me on those days. And since I am new, I don't get vacation time yet (I didn't know we got vacation time at all!)

Technically, I have been with this company for well over a year. More than most of the people that are asking for time off. I am just sooo pi$$ed that he wont take into consideration that, time after time, I have bent over backwards for that other account, and the reason I left the other account early, was because he needed someone ASAP for a week. I did 40 hours of training in 4 days. The first day being 16hours, or a double shift, Thursday through Sunday. Just so he could have me for that Monday, through Friday!

It wasn't because I needed money, It's because he needed someone, and I like to help out when I can!

I don't like to talk down about people, but in my first few days here, I figured out how this place works. It's all personal preference with him. If you are not constantly sucking up to him, or in a certain clique, then you are last in line to get something from him.

What should I do? Any ideas? I don't have an opportunity to go above him, and I NEED to watch who I talk to around the work area. He won't be there until Monday morning, so I will probably wait until then to do something about it.

Honestly, If I wanted to stay in an environment like this, I would have stayed in the Marines.
I don't have time for cliques, and petty High School BS.

I'm not a person to take career advice from. I would be likely to put myself in a non-favorable position by doing what I wanted rather than what the company wanted.

Puts you in a tough position, I feel for you man....

What about mentioning some of that extra work when you make the request for time off? Something like "Hey DSmack, I've put in a ton of time the last few weeks on project X, Y and Z, I would really like to take next Wednesday off if that's alright"
