This past Friday was the Wisconsin National In Schools Archery state tournament (NASP)
held in Wisconsin Rapids, Wi. The last 2 months we have been having practices at our local Grade
school here in Trevor, Wi. Here is the link for more info on this great program that provides
archery in schools across the U.S.

    http://www.nasparchery.com/
    http://www.wfaa-archery.com/Tournaments/Results.htm Waiting for official results.

Last year we had about 30 kids and this year we had a tremendous turnout of about 55 kids.
We had 4 instructors myself included and we teach the kids the fundamentals of shooting
archery. They had to practice from 10M and 15M range for the state shoot. Just bow and arrows
in hand with no accessories at all.

Onto the state tournament where you had to do 3 flights at 10M and 3 at 15m range.
Scoring is 1 for the outer ring up to 10 for the bullseye circle. You get 5 arrows
per flight. Their were I would say almost 500 kids their from 15 different schools so
    it was a great turnout.
Our school as a whole did not fair to well I believe their were 4 schools that finished below
us. But as a proud father my son Dylan manage to get the highest score of 240 for Trevor Grade
school which was pretty cool. Last year he manage 157 so he made a great improvement.
At both the 10M and 15M in his first flight he struggled otherwise a score of about 260
or better would of had him in the nationals in May. Regardless I am proud as heck for him
and we will go at it next year.

This program is doing great in my little part of Wisconsin as we now have 6 schools on board
and another local tournament scheduled on April 25th my birthday.:d I have to say
for me I have learned so much working with kids and love every minute of this.
If you get a chance take a kid out and enjoy the outdoors.
Sorry for being so long but onto the pics.

Way to go Tony, looks like a fine group of Archers you got there.

And a big congrats to Dylan for the top score.

I am finding out just how much fun it can be working with kids in archery. Hats off to you man!! :hail:

You going to be at the Madison,Wi show? If so I can introduce you to the man in charge of NASP
and see if you might be interested bringing some info home with you.
Only drawback is it is Mathews sponsored.;)

Thats a great program. There are a couple guys around here that are getting it going in our schools. It is suppose to start in the next couple months I think. I haven't heard anymore on it lately.
