Wife and I are getting new phones in a few days, and after exhaustive research, playing with the phones, talking to friends who own models we're interested in, we're down to the Galaxy S4 and the Razr Maxx HD. My wife is going to get the S4 (she has an iphone 4 now) simply because she likes the feel and operation, and the fact that the 5 isn't in the same league as the other phones being released now. I'm a little different. I liked the operation/UI of the S4 better than the Razr Maxx, but the battery life has me all but sold. NOTHING compares to its battery life. A good friend of mine owns this phone and lives on it. He charges every other day. My HTC Incredible 2 can't make it 5 hours on mild usage. Obviously everyone is all giddy about the S4 since it's the newest, gadget-filled phone on the market, but I'm looking for personal experiences with both. I know there are some members here who worked (or still work) for Verizon that may be able to offer some input. I know Caleb just picked up an S4 and dropped it in the lake already, so hopefully he chimes in as well.
I bought the iPhone 4S when it came out. Still have it.... and still miss my HTC EVO. It's a superior phone.
Isn't it just a 5s? Minor updates, etc,.? Another friend of hers was with us this past weekend at the Tough Mudder. She had an iPhone 5 that was locking up on her constantly (she's had it since it was released). She got zero pictures, and my wife got 130+. Needless to say, while my wife is slowly growing to dislike Apple products for a variety reasons, this sort of was the proverbial final nail in the coffin. I won't knock Apple products in general, they're just not in the running this time around for our needs.
I've had my S4 for about a week and half now. I'm coming from the 4S and blackberry before that. This phone is full of gimmicky features that honestly I've turned off half. The Air view and motion control etc is cool and I can see if being a huge plus in the winter in the deer stand with gloves on, but for day in day out use I'll prob leave that turned off. I just read where Samsung is sending out a fix to allow you can move all the apps over to the SD card, that'll be good, but I utilize cloud services so I don't see that as a game changer. To be honest this phone doesn't have the reception that the Iphone has. I have less bars in places that I thought I use to have full service. Maybe I'm paranoid about it but it's dropped alot of calls that I don't remember the Iphone dropping in the same locations. My wife says she is seeing a decline in reception on her Iphone, so maybe it's the area we live? My wife was sold on the S4 when I first got it, but she's decided to just keep her current phone and she's well into to her upgrade period. I sold my 4S and done pretty well on the upgrade, so I'm not out alot of money on this phone and I'm sure if I dislike it a couple of months from now I can get a enough for it to get something else.
I too have the s4. My wife has the s3... Both sweet phones. Battery life has been great I still have half a battery left at night without day charging. They will also soon have the case with another battery in it like they have for the s3. When your phone battery gets low it switches over the the second battery. Cant remember what it is called.
The Siman brothers were having a debate on phones on Facebook. I have had nothing but greatness from my Droid Razr Maxx HD. Solid build, durable screen and killer battery life. My wife's Galaxy screen broke the first week, the Samsung's just aren't built like the Motorola's in my eye.
A guy on my softball team loves the S4 for all the gadgets and features. I guess he can play videos with surround sound through his TV wirelessly? Another buddy has the Maxx and has loved everything about it. Charges it every other day and that right there almost makes it worth it to me. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk www.skyangler.com
Battery life is unbelievable. I'm on my phone a LOT and like you said, I have to charge it every other day as opposed to about 4 times a day. I bought it because I was really solely interested in battery life. Turned out better than I thought (which rarely happens). You won't be disappointed in that aspect.
I'd go apple 5s. Apple is what took this whole touch screen technology forward and now everyone is knocking it off or just trying to stay ahead of them. Same goes with the apps. More people are just now starting to buy their computers and understand why Apple is so popular. They build stuff for the buyer to work and are reliable and are not full preloaded crap etc. I never new what a pop up was till I use my brothers pc. I just think they make a better product for the consumer. With that being said. Only buy a smart phone if you really need it. Lot of money to spend each month for a toy that works as a phone. IMO.
I bought the Galaxy s4 last week. Its the greatest phone ever made. I have it paired with an otterbox. A few night ago...while drunk, I dropped it in my lake. 4 feet of water. It was in there for about 30 seconds...it survived just fine. Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk 2
If battery life is the only factor, consider one of the battery cases. They are not bulky and have a battery as well as charge the factory one. This means you get 3 times the battery life. They make them for the galaxy and I phones. My son has one on his Iphone and he can play video games for what seems like forever. You can find the cases on ebay. I have the galaxy note 2 and the battery life on it is pretty amazing by itself. I can listen to slacker or pandora radio for 8 hours and then pkay on the internet the rest of the night before needing to recharge. If the size of the note 2 isn't an issue, it is the phone to have. sent from my samsung note 2
I saw one on ebay for the s3, was thinking I saw one for the s4 but might be mistaken. sent from my samsung note 2
Y'all might think I am a cheap sucker, but i went with the phone below just this week for me and my wife as I could not bring myself to pay $200 a month with any of the big carriers ... I get unlimited data, minutes and texts for $45/month ... smart talk .... it does us just fine.... Sent from my LGL86C using Tapatalk 2
Smart. I'm paying the $200 a month for my wife and I and every month I think it every month. $200 used to be a nice car payment
Yeah. Thanks. Ill look into them. Do they work with apps? I've got so many I think I can't love without now
