Your drift yes, but i think your wrong. Like mentioned, Tebow is the same player he was his freshman year of high school. He's not going to have a miraculous transformation. Tebow is what he is, and thats a mediocre NFL Quarterback, and now that he's "figured out", he not going to win at such a high rate. Id be shocked if the Broncos win 8 games next year, and even more shocked if hes starting in 2014. Just my amateur opinion. ps...the Packers beat themselves
I agree with you that he is what he is. He's very unique, and not a typical quarterback at all. It's not pretty, but he makes plays and wins. That's been the same since his Freshman year of high school as well. No one thought he could throw in college, and he went to be the most decorated college quarterback in history. What he does has worked at every level and has worked thus far in the NFL. Will it continue to work? Who knows, but you can' convince that he's peaked and simply isn't going to get better. Everyone on here knows I love Tebow, think he'll succeed and am convinced he'll be a good NFL quarterback, but I just wish people were so analytical of every thing single thing he does. I know that's our job as fans, but I say to just sit back and enjoy what Tim Tebow is, both on the field and off. He's a once in a lifetime player and person. Just enjoy it.
Fair deal, but what do you consider "good"? Obviously winning is the number 1 factor, but do you think he can put up 4,000 yard seasons? 30 touchdowns? Complete 60 percent of his passes? These are all stats of course, but look at the top teams in the NFL, what do they all have in common? Elite. Quarterbacks. Denver may be able to pop out a few wins here, a few wins there, but their not going to go far in the AFC Playoffs and Tebow doesnt have the ability to be a Elite passer, its just not there. Makes him a mediocre quarterback in my eyes.
I wish him the best, NFL or bust. The guy has been one heck of a football player his entire life and has taken the Broncos and quite possibly put them in the playoffs. He did his part.
Caleb, I'm not being argumentative here, and I get your point as far as "Elite" stats, which he doesn't have. But. Admit, you're saying that he's the same as he was in high school isn't 100 percent true. He's progressed from there. If he was the same, he'd get killed.
What i meant by that was playing style. Hes not a pocket passer, hes a run first, pass second player...which is fine for college ball (Young, Russell, Pryor, Smith...just to name some recents), but it doesnt transfer well to the pro game. Vick had 1 good year and that was because he worked on his passing game, other then that nobody has been successful.
Nah, I'd be lying if I told you I thought he was capable of those numbers. He's just not that good of a passer. But today's game is made for players like Brees, Brady, Rodgers and Manning. Spread the defense out and throw it around. Heck, you practically aren't allowed to hit the quarterback and receivers anymore. Today's NFL passing game is like a glorified flag football game. It's just a different era. The other day on ESPN they were showing some Steve Young highlights or something, and brought up a game in which he completed only 9 passes, 1 was a TD pass to Jerry Rice and they won the game like 10-7. Sound familiar? Even in college Tebow wasn't a throwing quarterback. He had good passing statistics, but UF ran the spread option with Meyer, not a pass first spread, which is similar to what Denver is running with him now. If the NFL does figure him out, it won't be as much as the NFL figuring out Tebow as much as it will be the NFL figuring out Denver's option game in my opinion. Again, today's game is different. Tebow can't throw it around the field like the elite qbs, but that doesn't mean he can't win. Vince Young had a skill set similar to Tebow's and he won the way Tebow is winning now without Tebow's leadership ability, drive and focus.
I know today's game is different, and that's the reason Tebow isnt going to last. Love the Vince Young reference, and for the record we all know im taking him over Tebow. Faster, more agile, better passer and same desire to win
Don't have to throw in college like you do in the NFL. Little different with some of his option runs in college being successfull compared to staring down Urlacher, Lewis, Suggs, Ware, Mathews, etc...... The speed of NFL linebackers is just different. The whole NFL game is just different.
And people wonder why ESPN gives Tim so much coverage/attention? He gets all most as much attention on this bowhunting site as hunting itself. Human interest.....just asking! He stands for what made this great country the place it is today. And that is_____________? You can answer yourself.
Virginity? Hmmm...you may be onto something here. I have to think the men of this country would be more productive if they weren't worrying about getting laid. Wait, maybe that is the only reason they are productive in the first place, to get laid. Now I'm confused.
cheeseburgers? I'm stumped. And I dont' think bh.com started the Tim Tebow coverage. The media created this monster and it's become a general topic of discussion like anything else.
Well yes, you could also say, " do not have to throw in high school like you do in college." Florida fans were scared to death of his throwing ability before his sophomore year. It was ugly then like it is now, but after 4 years he won a lot of games. You've completely misinterpreted my argument. My posts are just food for thought. I've simply been drawing parallels between Tebow's game in college and a similar offense in college, as well as quarterbacks with a similar skill set who have won. He's done well and succeeded expectations as a starting quarterback. What he does and how he plays has worked, despite the NFL gurus on this board critiquing his throwing motion and his style of play. Again, just enjoy what he does.
