ickkkkkk. Jeter done for season! The Yankees for some reason clam up in post season and start batting around .150 or .066 with RISP. Hard to phathom. Bases loaded three different times in first 5 innings with nothing to show for it. They were lucky to get by Baltimore playing like they were. Been an ongoing problem all year masked with the long ball and inflated offensive stats against less than stellar teams. Doesn't translate to post season baseball. Me thinks they won't dodge Detroit... especially with Jeter out and Verlander yet to pitch 2 games. Bye bye... see ya in the spring.
On May 17th, 1966, a very old gentleman, his son, two grandsons and two great grandsons went and watched the Detroit Tigers play the New York Yankess at Tiger Stadium. The Tigers won that day 7-2. That very old gentleman bought his great grandsons penants and Tigers baseball caps. It was the first professional baseball game that either of the great grandchildren had ever seen live and made a lasting impression on one of them. The next day he took his great grandchildren through some tunnel from Detroit to Canada for their first trip ever out of the country. The elderly man, Roscoe Sarver, was my great grandfather. He was 88 years old when he took us all to that game and he passed away shortly thereafter. 46 years later, I don't watch professional baseball and really don't care about it, but last night I turned on the game and found myself rooting for the Tigers and remembering that spring day long ago. I had that penant and cap until I went into the military and my mother cleaned out my belongings I left behind. Those two items didn't make the cut of what was to be kept.
YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 2-0 lead and a shut out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Here comes Verlander!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'd like to see the Cards and the Yanks in the World Ser and thats just because I'd like to see the cards beat the Yanks. Go Cardinals.
