I figured his game would come back sooner or later. I really thought it would be much sooner though. The shot on 16 was the best I have seen. It's difficult to imagine the degree of "impossible" that shot actually was. Crazy good, and took nerves of steel to hit it. That shows me that he has a lot of wins left in him.

As far as rooting for him, I just cant help it. He is the best the sport has ever known and likely ever will. He has dominated in an era that has a ridiculous amount of talent around him. He made some terrible personal choices and has likely paid a tremendous debt for them. IF he has changed his ways off the course, I see no reason to not forgive him for his sins. I'm sure we have all done things that we are not proud of. The best we can do is learn from them and move on.

^ I agree. Let's not pretend that Tiger is the only man whom has ever cheated on his wife. I will always admire and respect Michael Jordan and Brett Favre, as well. They were the amazing. Period.
A life free of sins and mistakes? Nope.

"Let he who is free of sin cast the first stone" comes to mind. Love him or hate him, he's an unbelievable talent. He's great for the game and I'll root for him without apology.

Forgiveness means "To Totally Let Go Of". I hope he has been forgiven, forgiven himself and has Totally Let Go Of the past and returns to the Tiger of old.

I wonder if he was just a normal guy how forgiving we would be? I admit I jumped up a bit we he made that chip, and even cheered for him a bit. If they could not play football, basketball or golf would we forgive so quickly?

Then I would have no idea who he was/is. I like to watch the man play golf, not be a loving husband. I really don't care what he does in his spare time. Unless he married and cheated on my sister, his personal life affects me none.

Vito brings up a great point, is there even a reason to forgive him(or anyone) we don't know or has no bearing on our lives.

No. People need to worry more about what is going on in their own lives'.

I could not agree more. I love sports ALOT, but athletes are just entertainment, until they screw over my favorite team, lol.

For ME, athletes don't get a pass on morals just because they have a jump shot or a great swing.

I understand your view there Ben and I'm not saying it's wrong. Sometimes though I try to put myself in anothers shoes and imagine how I'd feel then. If a person were to think of the worst things they've ever done. I mean the dumbest, boneheaded things be it lying, cheating, stealing, drinking, drugs, whatever. Then one day all of it became common knowledge. I mean anyone and everyone knew about those mistakes. Speaking honestly I wouldn't want to face that fire nor would I want to be judged for the rest of my life on the mistakes in my life. He is an athlete yes but before that he is just a person like everyone else and like him we all have our own mistakes, most of us just aren't newsworthy.

    Great post.

Maybe if we didn't elevate athletes, or "celebrities" in general to worship status they would be judged solely by their skills and not by what they do in every waking moment of their lives.

I am sure there are school teachers that would not be judged nicely based on their personal activities (you think any of them ever had an affair or multiple affairs) yet they are still good teachers and no one seems to worry that a "morally corrupt" teacher is instructing their children. But a "morally corrupt" golfer is to be judged badly?
