Friday at 11:00 Tiger makes "a statement" lol. I can't believe it's going to be broadcast on all the national channels. A little over hyped perhaps, but it should be interesting. How does the worlds most famous athlete go unheard of and unseen for 3 months? First time on camera since the incident. Wonder if the wife will be by his side.

I don't really care about it, but I'll probably watch, anyway.

I want to see how he does once he's back on the course, not when he is telling the public what they want to hear (I'm sure that's how it'll go).

No offense NY, but I could care less about what Tiger has to say. It is all about damage control now, and is a business orchestrated event. Give me a damn break that we Americans take these superstars so seriously. If we worried about ourselves and our communities as much as we do the megastars of the world, the world would be a much better place.

He's going to read a written statement and answer no questions from what I understood. I don't really care much about what he has to say. He's going to apologize for his mistakes and blah blah blah. As VS said it's all damage control.

The sooner he comes back to golf, the sooner I watch it again.

I do hope he's going to explain on whether when he will be returning to play golf. I heard on ESPN.com that PGA commish said that he is returning to the rehab. He took a week off this week from rehab. Maybe he won't return to golf until sometimes April or maybe Masters....

I don't really care what he has to say, as I don't think he should have to say anything at all. If we were persecuted for the things we did as much as the celebrities are, life would suck. I feel sorry for him in that he's had to deal with so much BS about something that truly is a personal matter, even if you are a celebrity. I find it pretty sad that his affair scandal had more days on the cover of a magazine running than 9/11. America's media priorities are extremely distorted.

Like others....I don't give a crap what he has to say. He doesn't need to apologize to me (a member of the general public). What's transpired is between him and his wife; his trangressions and his business affiliates.

IMO, this isn't necessary. He could easily go visit each of his sponsors, personally. ALL matters are private, and I don't need to know about them.

Also (again IMO) the WORST thing he could do is acknowledge any of his reported mistresses individually. That would give legitimacy (either real or implied) to their claims. He doesn't need that burden.

I look at this like the bumper stickers (where actors/singers are expressing their personal, political views) that read...."Just shut up and act/sing".

Tiger......"Just shut up and play golf".

lol no offense taken brother.... I'm not Tiger.

I think he needs to do what he's doing. He needs make himself in the public eye again if he plans on coming back to the tour. He's not going to be able to avoid it so he needs to come forward and get the ball rolling. I think he's doing the right thing by making an appearance and not just showing up at the first tournament that he plays. Talk about distraction to the event! Look at all the grumbling going on about his appearance today because it takes away from the event going on in Arizona. And he's not even there!!

However, I think he should have done a full blown media frenzy press conference and get it over with. Now he's going to have to do it all over before he plays in an event.

Also, for the record I could care less about what he has to say too. I just want to see the best player on planet Earth play some golf again.

actually, the only thing that he SHOULD say at this press conference is this: "this is none of your effin biz, this is a private matter, so go the eff home."

personally I wouldn't give a press conference about it in any way...

In a perfect world and if it were you and me .... YES I agree. But it aint going to happen. Hes tiger woods. Like I said he can't escape it. Rather than drag it on and effect every tourney he goes to and the rest of the tour, do it and get it over with. I don't think the press would show up at our workplace and hound us everyday if it was one of us.

At first I wondered why in the world would he bother to do something like this, because it's his private life. But then again, what else can he do? The longer he avoids contact with the outside world, the more the media jackels will hound him. If he makes he "mind your own effin' business" statement, that's like throwing gas on the fire. And like NYBH said, he can't just show up to a tourney one day - it would be insane. I think he'd probably doing the only thing that he can at this time. Not saying I give a crap but th probably doesn't have any other options right now.

I agree that this is private. I don't feel he owes any of the general public anything, which is why I don't understand why many members of the media have been saying "he owes us an explanation." Really? Also, some PGA golfers have publicly asked Tiger to speak to the media so the first tournament he participates in isn't even crazier than it already will be. I think it will be nuts either way. Again, I don't think he has to tell us anything, but this is what our society has become...media driven. Pretty lame.

Heck....I'm a personal fan of Tiger (not tiger-mania). He apologized (just now) to me (his fans).....and it wasn't necessary. I don't have any kids by him. He's not my employer. My paycheck or employability doesn't revolve around him. He owes/owed me nothing.

His mom looked absolutely PISSED to be there. I was worried Elin would be there and look stupid. I'd completely forgotten about 'ol mom. What a TOOL for having her there and allowing her to be in the camera's eye. I don't think she made eye contact with him, during the entire "ordeal". In fact, I can't imagine ANY of these people in the small, hand-picked audience were happy about being videod, there. I suppose the real threat of being "cut-off" is a powerful intoxicant.

"Thanks to money and fame"......BS. Credibility meter just flipped to zero, there.

I honestly think less of him, now (having seen the press conference). Nothing horrible.....just "less". I mean....How in the hell does Buddhism come into this? Really, Tiger?

"These are issues between husband and wife" - Tiger Woods

Well, hell......just follow that mantra, Eldrick! You took a step backwards, today.

    Script:

Tiger leaves podium and hugs each member of the crowd.....then exits stage right.

LMAO! I think he did pretty good. Yes it was very scripted. Probably didnt' even write it lol. But, he did what he had to and delivered the message he wanted to. I was surprised (and will be) about the return to golf "someday" comment. I'd be shocked to not see him at the Masters.
