Look out PGA, the man is back! Take that everyone who said he was done. This has to make him the hands down favorite to win the Masters.
We must remember.... there were a lot of top golfers NOT in attendance. I must say though.... I was impressed with his consistancy. He didn't win it with a couple miracle shots. He just kept plugging and not making too many mistakes. He hit rairways, greens and putted Ok but not great. We'll see when he shows up at Augusta with Donald, Mcilroy, Michelson and all the others are around. I really was hoping McDowell would make a couple putts and put some pressure on to see how he'd do... but it never happened. McDowell shot 75 or something like that. Tiger played steady, only ONE big mistake yesterday, and was consistant. That should win once in a while.
His post was dripping with sarcasm guys... But that said, I do think the past few tournaments have shown Tiger is getting back in the groove of things. Someone must be knocking over hookers again!
#1 in total driving, greens in regulation, scrambling, putts inside 10 feet, and par 5's. That's probably going to win you a tournament or two. He looked good this week... really good. I think the biggest thing was his putting. He putted a LOT better than in recent tournaments. He was knocking down those 4,5,6 footers when he needed to, was lagging it good on long putts, and dropping a few 15 - 20 footers. Pretty impressive week.
I was cheering for Tiger. I am not going to go as far as saying he is back, but it sure does add a bit of excitement to the tournaments when he is in the hunt. Before his personal debacle I would cheer against him, now I cheer for him. Hope he plays well in Augusta.
If there is one thing we can take from Sunday, it is that Tiger IS golf, despite the beliefs from the few golf purists who claim no player is bigger than the game.... In general, no one gave a crap about golf in Tigers absence and the ratings prove it... "What does Tiger mean to sports TV ratings? Sunday overnights for golf were up +129% (4.8 vs. 2.1), while NCAA games down -17% (6.6 vs. 8.6)."
If he putts like he did last week he'll win. I'd say if Tiger does not 3 putt all week, he easily wins the green jacket. The last 7 years his highest finish is 6th! He kind of likes the place. And he's playing really good right now. Good combination to win a major.
