I'm not sure about you guys but here in Mass the ticks have been absolutely outrageous this year. Opening week I pulled over 70 off of my clothes. I am not inflating that number by any means. It was atleast 70. One of em got under the under armor and now I have the red ring. On my way to the doctors tomorrow to get checked for Lyme disease. Be careful out there guys and always check for them. I have a friend who is now on a pacemaker because he got Lyme disease from a tick. Anyone else experiencing this huge increase in tick population?

I can't say that I have, but I spray all of my clothes with permethrin spray (Permanone) and it keeps ticks and chiggers off me, so if they're there it's a non-issue.

I think our biting flies ate all the mosquitoes and ticks this year, along with half of my skin

Down here in VA we were fortunate enough to have Hurricane Irene bless us with her presence  which left lots of standing water and horrible mosquitos. Thermacell has been doing the trick so far :tu:

What does that spray do, just keep them off or kill them when they come on? I'm assuming its odorless?

X2. Flies and gnats are terrible this year, probably due to flooding. Haven't noticed bad ticks since turkey season.

My Doc told me that the test for Lyme was not 100 percent reliable. Sometimes you could be positive and test negative and vice versa. If any of the symptoms are there and a tick is involved, he treats for Lyme. Sounds like a good procedure to me. I had Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever and that was rough. While I was getting over it I could be sitting around and feel half way decent and the next minute I would be running a fever of 104. That is why I hate ticks.

I'm from Massachusetts also and the ticks are really bad. I got Repell at Bass Pro. it has perthone (sp) you spray it on your clothes, let it dry for 2 hours and wear. I haven't had a tick since I treated my camo last week.

I bought the Sawyers Permethrin. I would assume the Permethrin sprays do the same thing, regardless of the manufacturer. You spray your clothes, and it lasts up to 6 washes. I haven't had a problem with ticks after that. Just follow the directions on the bottle.

I've used Sawyers and I'll try permanone next. It kills the bugs on contact. They did a study between deet and permethrin by spraying two boots one with each and put them in the woods for awhile. The boot with the deet on it had tons of bugs on it. The only bugs the boot sprayed with permethrin had on it were dead and was surrounded by dead bugs.

Odorless, won't come off in the rain and can survive a lot of wear.

I bite ticks. Once they realize how terrible they are, they change their diet and go strictly veg. I recommend the method, I save on products considerably.
