As if ticks aren't bad enough and last seasons flurry of stories about the Lone Star tick that carries a virus that makes you allergic to meat wasn't enough... Here is a new concern: http://www.outdoorhub.com/news/deadly-new-deer-tick-virus-emerges-in-new-york/ -Bill
I heard the same thing with the density's being quite high in Columbia and other near by counties! keep an eye out be safe all!
Sounds like a good job for a robot. Seen this article in the local paper's outdoor section a few weeks back. If this truly works and can be cost effective the possibilities are endless. Sounds like it works well though. Virginia Military Institute - Rover Robot Kills the Ticks
My school of thought is that I can handle ticks since all I have to do is strip down and check myself over real close at the end of the day. No big deal. If they are talking about infection in 15 min. that is a whole other ball of wax.
I`m with you, I`ve been out of work for almost a month because of a tick bite. I`ve got a picc line in, and have to go get an IV every day til aug 15th
Thanks! Me too! If your in an area with ticks, definitely pay attention. I haven't plucked a tick off me for about 2 years, not sure if it was from that or I had a bite that went un-noticed. Since I got Lyme I`ve pulled 2 off me though , really small ones that just look like a small speck.
Yeah I seem to find em in the worst spots this year, one pretty much in my arm pit, one on my ankle an the the last one I found was on my upper/inner thigh area if ya know what I mean. I screamed like a little girl an got the s.o.b. off ASAP! Never have got checked for lymes though.
I was out scouting the other day on a property I have permission to hunt but never really have. Well turns out there was a sink hole that didnt used to be there and I put my truck in it. Had to walk at least a mile with my young daughter and once I got to the road so my dad could figure out how to get in the field I had at least 30 ticks on me. Luckily my daughter only had 1. I carried her over my head most the way. My body hates me now lol. My truck is good except for a bent bumper. Not a fun night to say the least. Sent from my SCH-R970 using Tapatalk 4 Beta
yea, uve just gotta keep an eye on it. its affects people in many different ways. My buddy had it a few years ago, I actually brought him to the hospital. He as in pretty rough shape. The thing is, u can get a blood test and get a false negative....kinda like when ur ol lady takes a pregnancy test haha
That's awesome u get a chance to take ur daughter out with u, mine is 7 months old and I cant wait to show her how much fun hunting/ fishing is. definitely be on the alert for ticks, I think lyme is more common in the eastern states but I wouldn't take the chance
I was very thorough in my search for them lol. My daughters only 11 months but she loves driving in the country amd she that that long walk was a blast. Lol. I on ther other hand didnt enjoy it that much haha. Sent from my SCH-R970 using Tapatalk 4 Beta
She loves being outside. She is so close to walking. She stands up on her own just wont take the first step. Im going to make sure she knows what the outdoors are and the beauty of hunting. I cant wait so I took her on a scouting trip and it turned out bad lol. I did see a 160 inch buck right before I discovered that darn hole. Sent from my SCH-R970 using Tapatalk 4 Beta
