well hopefully you got the whole thing out, they tend to leave their head/pincers in and that can cause problems.
just wash the area with soap and water. save the tick unless you tossed it, and keep an eye on the area and watch for any symptoms that can cause problems.
watch for a red rash near and around the bite. also watch for flu like symptoms, fever, sore joints and muscles, stiffness and weakness. if you see any of these symptoms.... go to the doc, take the tick with you if you saved it.
you'll probly be fine, just keep an eye out ;)

Its usually not a big deal, just watch where it bit you and make sure it doesn't turn red or anything. I got sick last year from a tick bite, but it was no big deal, just got some pills and it went away.

Look for a large red rash to develop over a few days, though a rash doesn't always occur. If it does or a fever, etc. shows up go see a doctor. I contacted Lymes Disease last year after a tick had embedded itself. They gave me two doses of anti-biotic.

If a deer tick has not embedded itself into your skin you most likely have no worries.

Get yourself some spray with Permethrin(sp?) in it. Keep an eye on the bite location, if it starts to get irritated go see a doctor

I don't know what kind of tick it was. I do know it what mature and not a nymph though. From the pictures on the internet it looks like a deer tick to me. The area I was bit is a little red. I feel fine, but I'm going to see the doc just in case.

First of all I hate it when someone says...WHAT KIND OF TICK? Treat all ticks the same to be on the safe side. Ticks of all species can carry nasty diseases. #1 Remove and make sure to get the head. #2 Place the tick in a jar to keep for awhile. (it can be tested later if need be) #3 Watch for flu like symptoms and a rash. Keep in mind contrary to popular B.S. THE RASH CAN APPEAR ANY WHERE ON YOUR BODY, NOT JUST ON OR AROUND THE BITE MARK. If still worried contact a Docter...Keep in mind though that a Lymes test is far from accurate. If you don't believe me just check into it. They have been known to come back positive when they were negatice and negative when they were positive.

Call your family doctor and ask for a diox script. I got bit last fall during deer season and I got a perscription for "just in case". It cost me $5. Why take chances.

You got the right thinking. Can't be too safe, my Lyme Disease case was not caught and I had horrible headaches and neckaches. Get it checked out, if for nothing else, you own peace of mind.

Deer ticks are tiny compared to regular wood ticks. Deer ticks are the bad ones. I get bit at least a good 50 to 100 times during the summer by wood ticks. Never have I been bitten by a deer tick that I know of. Keep an eye out on the bite like everyone said, good advise by all.

Wow. I guess the south is just different then. I've probably been bit atleast 300+ times in my life.

One time as a kid, I got into a nest of em somehow and we picked off 258 ticks in one sitting. Nasty little buggers but I've never given thought to it really. Just pull em out head and all when I find em.

they make a new product called repel and you spray it on your clothes that you hunt with and let the spray soak over night and the ticks dont attach to you i have been using it for 3 years and havent had a tick on me yet (Knock on wood)

I got bit by a tick 3 years ago that gave me a really nasty itchy, irritated spot. It took about 8 months for it to really go away. (and it was on my back, on the bottom of my shoulder blade so it was really hard to scratch)

Anyhow, ever since then, if another tick latches on to me.. I immediately know, because that spot gets all red and itchy again. ???
