Now that my noes hairs aren't freezing every 10 seconds I'm outside I wish I was thwacking as well. Darn short PA 2nd season.
Thanks Guys, after my gut shot a few weeks ago, it sure is nice to watch one fall in sight again!!! Now I got a little butchering I'm supposed to be tending to......
Congrats on the late season kill, Doug!! Haven't heard anything from you in a while. Glad to see you got a deer down.
I been in rehab for my internet addiction.....saw Tiger Woods there too, he was there for something else. Not sure what, but the wife said what HE was into would get me KILLED!!! :D Thanks Bro, it was a good evening, especially letting my little girl lead me to the deer!!!
Wow, seems like you have a lot better luck with Slick Tricks than I did! I shot 3 deer with them, found 0 blood, and lost one deer (my fault, hit too high). Both deer were pass throughs, but no blood trail. Oh well, guess I just had bad luck! Congrats on the meat!
Thanks Gary, sadly, it was actually my second...I arrowed another on Jan 15th. Bad shot, not sure what the hell I did on that one, but as soon as it flew off the rest I could see it was gonna hit WAY back. I got paunch and up into liver and back lobe of offside lung on a quarter away shot. I went in about 5 1/2 hours later, and bumped her.........she ran about 50yds, and laid down again, and I was fortunate enough to find her in that same bed in the morning. That was a long night (I should've probably waited, but I shot her within 50yds of where I shot a coyote back in November, so I was a little anxious to get her before the songdogs did), but in the morning, I found her in short order, and have meat in the freezer as a result. At least this one was a GOOD SHOT, and 70 yds later, a dead deer!!!
I would say it's about shot placement, but the gut shot doe was also shot with a slick trick, and I had good blood right up to the point I found her, and bumped her out of her bed. Durable, TOUGH, fly GREAT, etc, probably the BEST BH I've ever shot, and they'll be in my quiver for a LONG time. My 5yr old tracked this deer, not that it was a difficult job, because it was only a 70yd track job, but the trail was pretty good considering the flash light was in the hand of that cute little 5yr old girl until she found the deer..... No offense intended, but I've had GOOD blood trails w/ ST's to this point.
