I currently have a wrist strap style release and was wanting to try a thumb style release. What release would you recomend that wont break the bank and is easy to use for a starter like me?

I was trying to do the same thing switch to a thumb release. but I noticed that they are all pretty expensive to just try.

Go to a shop that will let you try different kinds.

As others have said, try going to your local pro shop and shooting a couple before you make a decision. A thumb release isn't for everyone and you may find that you don't like it.

It's a pretty big transition from an index finger/wrist strap release to a hand held thumb release. It took me months to really get comfortable with mine. Being as though it's already fall I would suggest waiting until next year to give it a try. There's no use messing with something that at this time of the year.

As for brands, I shot a Tru-Fire Hardcore last fall and it worked great. However after changing to a Scott Exxus I will say I like the Scott a lot better. The trigger mechanism is a lot more crisp. Although it's a bit pricey.
