I think a thumb release would be a good match for me. I have been wanting to try one for a long time and an thinking of buying a Tru-Fire 3D Hunter camo release. My only worry is that I draw 80lbs and have never drawn my bow back with anything other then a wrist release. I was wondering if you thought I would be fine or if you think it will be to must stress on my fingers if I shoot for long periods of time. I tend to shoot around 75 shots a day, 4-6 times a week. Has anyone ever had any problems using a release like this with higher draw weights or is it not a big deal and am I thinking to much as always lol. Thanks in advance!

I use a 3 finger release, specifically Tru Ball BossX and I haven't had any problems. I'm 6'5" and 215 lbs and I shoot my bow around ~65 lbs. I haven't had any issues.

I have to ask...why the need for 85 lbs??

im shooting a Carter Chocolate lite and my Hoyt is at 70 pounds. I used to shoot a wrist strap and I find the Carter to be much more comfortable and easier to pull. When I first switched I was worried about the release slipping or being hard to draw but ive never had an issue, actually the opposite was true for me. Even when shooting over 50-75 arrows in a session. Now im not shooting 80 pounds but I wouldnt think 10lbs would make a giant differance. If your trying different releases out take a look at the chocolite, they make it in a 3 and 4 finger and you can fine tune the trigger weight. The nicest feature on it is the auto locking button. just put the jaw over your loop and hit the button and it will close. no fuss no muss! Good luck!

Awesome thanks guys. I figured I was just over thinking this a bit.

And NC, I got this bow because I want as much energy as possible. I can draw it smooth and comfy with no issue at all so I figured why not lol. I don't need this much energy for whitetails I know, but who knows how long ill have this bow, might get the chance to head for moose or brown bear one day and will be glad I have the extra energy. I'm shooting a 484g arrow at 300fps, not a bad deal there lol. One pin for 0-30 yards is also a good feeling :)
