Throwing cigarettes out car window---littering? Deserving of a littering ticket?

    I have never written anyone a ticket for throwing cigarettes/cigars out of their car windows before, yet I am feeling more and more compelled to do so. It comes across as disrespectful to me, but I also understand that cigarettes/cigars are bio-degradable so I am torn.

    Because I miss Preacher Tony I will use his phrase.....

    What say ye?

    Everyday on duty I see people throwing cigarettes out of their car window and it is starting to annoy me. It is a big old fine if I hit them with a littering ticket. Kind of torn.

    I hate seeing the pile of butts at stop lights. I REALLY HATE getting hit with a butt while riding the motorcycle. I say cite each and everyone of them.

    Giving someone a $200 ticket is not something I take lightly. I could go around and write people tickets all day, every day if I chose to do so. I have to balance many things and I always thought cigarettes were biodegradable so I have been torn as to what to do.

    Yeah but they are littering, who cares, they chose to do so and agree to pay the fine by doing so! Just think how many times a day they do this.....JMO!

    If they are biodegradable I would say no, eventhough it does annoy me as well.If they are not biodegradable then i would ticket them. Ask your supervisor his opinion.
