Here is our throw and grow extreme food plot we planted during the second week of Sept. It has turned out pretty well considering it was kind of a last minute choice. It is located at the end of a long grass alley way on top of a ridge that leads into an acorn grove. I hunted it for the first time last weekend and it is turning out to be a great staging area before the deer move on to other food sources.

Looks great for the short time it had to grow. Good luck with browns in there.

How did you use it? Just throw if out or did you have to do any other work?

We sprayed it with round up then came back 2 weeks later and mowed off all the dead grass and worked the soil with an old ball diamond drag. After that we broadcast the seed and then applied alittle fertilizer.

The drag basically just scratched up the dirt and removed any left over debris. So far the deer seem to love it and I think we are going to plant it every year.

I think its all about timing. We actually planted two plots the other one is not very good at all. It was planted earlier and we didn't have rain for a couple weeks and also the turkeys found the plot. This one that turned out well had rain at the right times.
