I'm waiting to attach a picture with it I'm obsessed with him now. Know where he lives and next north wind I'm on him again.
I have taken chest shots on deer at 8-10 yards when sitting on the ground. I used to hunt a couple of places when I was a kid (teens) that had nothing but small hedge, locust and cedar overgrown pastures. I'd walk in and snip some shooting/sight lanes out of a cedar and make a ground blind out of it. I took quite a few deer that way. A few, on occasion, only presented short range frontal shots due to limited number of trimmed areas in my tree. The area where the neck meets the brisket will drop them like a hammer to the forehead but out very far from you and it's a damn small target that shrinks very fast with any angle at all. So under certain circumstances a chest shot I can see being justifiable (maybe just because I did it before?) but anyone saying they took a neck shot and took it to keep from being "busted"...that's just wrong on multiple levels and exactly the sort of thing I'd expect from a Chris 'dbag' Brackett.
And I'm taking it you have met and talked to him for any amount of time personally right? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
another example of the Hunting shows that are out there today...you can put anyone in front of a camera but you can't put smarts in the man in front of that camera....wow what a statement by CB, and dumb as well....
I appreciate you sticking up for him, and I respect your opinion. He may be a very nice guy, I simply don't know. However, I don't think that the on-air character that he's created can be good for anyone. Sure, it'll fill his pocketbook, but only for a little while longer. I think a lot of what he does makes light of hunting in general. From selling apparel that simply states "Killer" on it, or this picture. Take a good look at that picture. Arrow through the neck of a deer, black electrical tape on it's eyes, blood dripping down the walls. Whatever happened to showing some respect for the animal? I just don't think that's the type of media exposure the hunting industry needs in this day and age. When PETA and their friends want to make an example out of somebody and use someone in the industry to paint with a very broad brush, who do you think they'll go after? Jim and Eva Shockey, Lee & Tiffany? or this guy? Again, he may be a great guy, but the on air persona isn't good for anyone. I'm certainly not letting my young sons watch him and emulate him. In the end, he's the Jersey Shore of the hunting shows. He can't possibly last the test of time. That's just my opinion.
I would question much of what is seen in the media coverage of hunting. This includes shot placements anywhere that does not target centering the heart lung circle. Many shots I have seen look more like lung/liver hits or clearly gut shot. It also does not consider the alertness level of a deer. I saw one hunter take a frontal shot... saying "I had to take it... he was about to bust out of here." The next thing you see is a smiling hunter posing with a deer, without the 12 hour tracking job story that goes along with it. Maybe that works in the Midwest but in the thick foliaged, water laden south, a gut shot deer is usually a very tough recovery and very often a lost deer. I also question companies that claim their expendables make the kill zone bigger or that offer single pin aiming out to ???? yards. All of it needs to be taken with a very carefully examined grain of salt.
Wow, reminds me why I got rid of cable going on 6 years ago. The guy in that^^^ picture is on a hunting show?
Stan Potts pioneered this shot a couple years ago. Followed it up by saying he doesn't recommend this shot for anyone, but he's a professional hunter, blah, blah, blah. Straight tool. SCFox
Oh good grief...Potts is not the same kind of Dbag that Brackett is (can't hold a candle to him actually) but Potts always seemed to me to be mentally off kilter. The dude goes absolutely insane after a shot...I can't stand to watch him.
is CB the same guy who was the subject of that "center shot" thread a couple weeks back? If so, he's got himself some pretty stupid theories. Go Tigers!
No the center punch theory was Dan Perez. Another one of the hunting industries Dbags Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
