    There must be big bucks behind every tree. :moose:

    So tonight I'm headed west on 90 from my hotel near O'Hare to Hoffman Estates so I can kill some time at Cabelas, and out jumps 2x deer. Both get creamed, one by the car two spots in front of me. This deer I get a good look at, and it's a buck......and a good one at that. Already ears wide with brow tines, and what looks like would have been 4.5 to 5" bases. I'm amazed that deer like this exist in the suburbs, I can only imagine what lives in the rural areas here. In MANY years of glassing in NY, I have never seen a buck that big this time of year.

    AT&T sucks around here. I dropped every call that was more than 5 minutes long. That never happens at home, and now I see why you guys hate them here.

    Leini (spel?) Summer rocks.

    That is all..........:wave::D

    And the new smileys rock too

    I know a guy that hunts only suburbs. In fact the larges wood lot he hunts is <40 acres. Kills a decent buck every year.

    I wish I knew you were going to be around. I'm about 20 min. from Hoffman Estates. Your wrong about the rual areas. I lived in So. IL. all my life and just moved up here last August. I saw the first 200" deer of my life standing on the side of the road licking up salt that was spread on the road from a snow storm. I've seen bigger bucks in the burbs then I have in So. IL.

    So you're cell phone doesn't work. Write a letter. Pick up the land line. Yes, there used to be big bucks behind every tree in Illinois. That was until 2 of them stepped into the road today. Now they're going to be more scarce. LOL

    I don't know about Illinois, but some of Michigan's biggest bucks live in the suburbs...in unhuntable areas. The burbs outside of Detroit seem to host the state's biggest racks. Its the best way to live to their second birthday, and beyond, around here.

    I would put money that the Chicagoland suburbs hold more 200" whitetail deer per square mile than almost anywhere else in the world. We have thousands and thousands of acres that are off limits to hunting and plenty of spots for big bucks to grow old in.

    Same for PA regarding suburb bucks. WAY more big bucks in the suburbs than in the huntable areas.
    And just as the outsiders think there is a booner in every woodlot across Illinois, people from the rest of PA think there is a booner in every 3 acre woodlot around Pittsburgh.
