I have had success putting scent in mock scrapes. Mock Scrape Starter as well as Active Scrape have worked for me in the past 2 years.

I tried a bunch of it 15-20 years ago and got far more negative than positive results. My approach for the past decade has been to be as personally scent-free as possible, quiet on stand with low impact on the area. Silent in and out without rattling, grunting, decoys, scents or whatever to tip off deer that I am anywhere in the vicinity. All the marketing hype that sells stuff for manufacturers and retails is lost on most of the experienced hunters. I spend more time shooting and tuning my gear to be ready for the shot opportunity and less upon tricks to try and get deer close.

So good scouting and a leave no trace attitude is best.

I've use different scents for the sole purpose of cover scent. A much as people like to talk about being scent free. Nobody ever is when they are in the woods.

agreed, can never be scent free, but good scent control and using something like DDW you can fool deer into thinking your much further away than you really are.

I used a bottle of Tink's doe in heat on Saturday. I just started squirting it about 100 yards from my stand all the way up to my stand. 10 minutes after getting into my stand I heard foot steps following my trail and sniffing it was a big buck but it was to early to shoot. So it works. I've never had luck with a drag

Every buck I have killed was during rut using ticks 69 doe n rut.
I take a string and a wick put the scent on it and drag it in behind me. The bucks would come in head down and grunting right on the scent line I made. I think it matters about the timing that you use it.

I keep a journal on every hunt I have and that has helped me on when I should start using specific scents
