Sad situation, if it is proven true. I was super excited to hear the story when it first broke but it seemed kinda off when he was on the HUNTR podcast and his story didn't match up to other stories the guy has told. I'm sure Justin will cover this on the next podcast

    I just hate poachers. Scum.

Wow what a giant. Sad story if true. It is an all too common occurrence. What some people do for some antlers.

I watched a YouTube video about that yesterday. I know it's still in the investigation stage but it doesn't look good for that guy.

Money and fame as well. He was offered $20k + a replica from Keith Snider, more if the buck netted over 200"

If I remember right, he shot in on his sister's land.
If so, that would suck to true that you need "written" permission.
Dnrs are getting hungry for this bit of trivial ****!

If the law says that he has to have written permission and it was his sisters land that is BS, especially if the CO could go to his sisters house with him and verify with his sister, kinda crappy.

Not only that but he was encouraged by his dad to hunt his sister's land because he had gotten a great buck off it on a past years hunt. Obvious, it was a family hunting area.
That is just a BS law and BS money grab by the DNR
A link to his interview is in the original post.
The State should be ashamed of themselves if the sister did not put in a complaint.

I believe the issue arose because that deer was proven to be on trail cameras 20+ miles away from where he claims he shot it on his sister's property.

I'd also say there must be some clear evidence being the DNR showed up to Keith Snider's house and confiscated the rack from him.

I would love to do it and torment the community by limited release of information.

    Good point Sota.
Like one pic of it in the back of my truck with a Marlboro in my mouth and a beer can in hand.
    Then just dissappear.:fro:

What really sucks is if it was a a 140 inch buck it would be crickets.
this kind of stupid chit can ruin this young man's life.
    Do we want/ need this?

Not much a rumor, lots of guys came forward with the pictures of the same deer after the news came out. Now this is all still alleged, but I didn't believe that guy's story from the beginning. Borrowed all the equipment to hunt the deer, left his phone at home the entire day he hunted that deer, recovered the deer at 10AM but didn't take a picture with the deer until nighttime.

Latest statement indicates that he admitted to poaching it.

    OK.

" all still alleged " is one reason this whole story sucks.
I have no idea what the truth is?
    Truly hope it's legit.

This year some idiot in VA poached a giant buck from a Richmond suburban area cemetery then claimed he killed it like 75 miles away. What an idiot. Made a lot of suburban yuppies pissed and made the hunting community look bad.
