I may have mentioned that once or twice.

Some argue that NDE's are merely chemical reactions and firing neurons in a distressed brain. All purely random.

The million dollar questions are, is it possible for your conscience to simply not exist after death? Where did it exist before you were born?

That's what I often wonder. For those who don't believe in God, what do you believe happens when we die? We just cease to exist? Is it like sleep but without the dreams?

What point is there to life, if this is it? Everything we do, experience, believe is just random, and pointless then?

I suppose the thread is going in an entirely different direction than my intent, so I'll stop there:D

We decompose, just like the squirrel in the street by my house.

We die. Just like every other living thing. We aren't nearly as important as we like to think we are.

Not sure it's a matter of importance, but, hey, you're honest.

The "floating" feeling is often linked to the ANS "shutting down". If you've ever had a local anesthetic, you can feel dull sensation, but, nothing sharp. Same here; only the dull sensations of pressure are felt, giving the sensation of "floating".

Bright lights are often associated with electrical activity within the body. Some people who have broken bones, myself included, see "stars" or a bright "flash", which is due to a disruption in electrical activity within the body.
