As long as the wind is not blowing into the grass, accessing it is not a problem. We had to walk next to the grass on the entrance and exit to some of our sets this fall, and they never even knew we were walking by.

On one particualr hunt, Johnny saw where a 4.5 year old 9 had laid down. I was walking out and had the wind blowing from the grass to me late morning in late October. Johnny sat in his stand and watched me walk 50-60 yards from where the buck was bedding and he had no clue I walked past him. But, its not something I would have tried had the wind been different.

That should be covered by CRP as well as the other grass mentioned by Dan.

I would think so too. I know our landowner has that plot in the CRP program.

Interesting, and thanks. We'd normally all pass on the East side, making the rare East winds a tough time. However, we have ZERO East wind stands past this point, which is good..

    Again Dan, appreciate the time.

Great! I'm not sure how to go about making it happen. I'd surely be willing to pay for the seed, but do I need to contact the office to notify them of the changes, correct?

Yeah, that is another upside. The cost and relative upkeep of these grasses is pretty low.

We have some rough equipment to plant the right stuff, just need to make sure we are clear with the people that could pinch us!

    Thanks again!

Our landowner said the only upkeep he had to do was burn it once every 5 years. Its supposed to be burned late this winter and should come back even better.

No problem.....I really enjoy the CRP grass discussion and see it in a whole new light after seeing what it held on our property. Highly overlooked IMHO.

Check this Whitetail Bedding seed blend out from Real World Whitetails. I've read up on it a bit, and will hopefully be able to experiment with it next year.

Dan's picture shows what could be an awesome ambush funnel too.
