i have my ground blind in a spot right next to water a food source and hundreds of tracks even found 2 bedding areas near by 2 huge scrapes but i never see a deer ive hunted in morning noon and late evening whats going on here ? ive taken extra steps to remain as scent free as possible im quiet when i enter and leave i just dont get it ?
The deer may be only hitting that spot at night. How many times have you hunted it? Sometimes you can get skunked a few times even in a good spot.
Make sure you're not "on top" of the spot, brush in your blind really good, and wait it out. Like others have said they may be there at a different time?
its 35 yards from the water 30 away from the food yes i it very well hidden as far as the wind i really dont mess with that when hunting from the ground blind maybe thats my mistake ?
ive hunted it 4 times so far i feel like im in deer central as i said tracks droppings scrapes beds food water but where the hell are they ??????
Why would it be any different with a ground blind? And you would still see deer, they would just be alert to your presence alot sooner.
i have trail camed the area caught about 9 different buck/doe what did you think i just went into the woods and plopped down a random ground blind ?
Well you didnt include that in your post. What time were the bucks coming in? What direction from? How often? When are the does coming in? From where? in what weather? Moon phase? Do you want help or sympathy?
i just put a simple post up to make the point which is i know the deer are there but im not seeing them and was curious as to what everyone though as to why
I would put up a trail cam and check it in a week or so,but my gut feeling is it's a night time activity.. I have a rule of thumb hunt a spot three times and i see no deer i move on.
Honestly, its not that simple. With the information you provided, no one would be able to tell you why. Do you have any daytime photos on your trail cam? If so, any recently? Are you hunting on the right wind? You can try to be as scent free as possible, but the #1 rule is to hunt the right wind. How is your entrance? Is the wind blowing into the area at any time during your entrance? Are you over hunting the spot? I would suggest getting in between the bedding and the food, as close to the bedding as you can without disrupting it. And do not hunt it unless you have a good wind.
I would pay more attention to the wind, especially at ground level. They can smell and evade the area well before you see them. If I were you I would invest in a climber and get up in the air. You will be able to move around and strategize a little more. Good luck man!
