So Justin and Todd's conversation at the end of this weeks episode about how the past few winters have not been very cold got me thinking, what is your strategy when the winter isn't as cold as it needs to be, I know when it gets very cold they hit food sources hard but where do you have action when it's a mild winter? All i know is the decoy used in that episode looked very odd to me IMO. I can see why it wasn't used in frame to much.
That's was mine, it's made to be compact is why it's so thin. And it's swivels in the breeze. Not much difference than using a silhouette decoy. I have some good footage of a really nice 9 point and it in same frame. The Buck laid his ears back and bristled up a little. I like the secondary rut or whatever you want to call it, this weekend you should see some bucks cruising. After that if it isn't cold or no snow old fashioned scouting should do the trick. Find yourself a big set of tracks around a food source and figure it out from there.
I have been in Doe's after Doe's lately and have seen zero Bucks chasing. I think they all got fixed lol
Bucks were still chasing thru last week in central MI. But since the OP was from North Carolina shouldn't the rut just be starting?
