I am a football fan. NFL to be exact. I love the Cowboys, for better or worse. But I really enjoy watching with my two sons who are also cowboys fans. But damn, I want to boycott the NFL. They stand for, well actually they don't , pun intended, for everything I don't believe in. My grandfather stormed the beach of Normandy. I have so much respect for that generation that saved our asses. I can't figure this out. But I really like that time with my sons. What should I do? Set a new example and not watch? Explain it away? They are ready for football and I hate to bring the politics into my living room but there is no way around it.

Take that time to go play ball with them and explain things as you play catch .

I quit reading when you said you’re a cowboys fan.

Seriously. Spend the time with your family. If you state your opinion about how you feel you could teach the kids something.
When the anthem starts playing and the players kneel. Stand up. It could be a learning experience. Even if you agree to disagree, spend the time together and let them know where you stand.

I wish the best for you man. My dad served 28 years in the Marines. I’m a huge Falcons fan. But I quit watching.
I hate it’s come down to your pasttime with the kids.

Watch the games with your sons, just start after all the bs and enjoy the games with your sons and spend time with them.

Both my grandfathers served and both would sit down and watch the games today. My one grandfather lived in Detroit in 1967 riots.

There are players on the cowboys they share your values also I bet, think of them too, not just the ones making noise.

I am sitting here enjoying the NBA last two nights, it’s for entertainment and bit of escape. I am not getting caught up in the social issues.

    You’ll know what is best!

With the way things are going, I'm guessing you will have another year to decide.

Where will all of this be next year, regardless of election results, when fans are allowed to spend their money again, or not spend, to attend games?

Leagues are going to realize this year just how much attendance plays to their bottome line. So much lost revenue and if they continue to isolate or cater to a radical movement most will not return.

Don't want to watch don't watch. Don't get triggered like the others do.

You're a teacher ........ teach some respect. It seems to be a lost value these days.

Thankfully, they both are at least questioning the behavior of these players. They support the few right now in the NBA that have stood. I don't care if they protest even when I don't agree with it, but my boys need to know that respect is earned. The flag represents those who earned it.

It is interesting that just the opposite exists. Some kneel. In regard to what I have found, I was at a baseball game with my hat (cover to you Marines), stood at ease, snapped to attention at the start of the National Anthem and saluted. When at ease, the kid behind me commented to his girlfriend that I was disrespectful since I didn't remover my hat. Didn't turn around after the National Anthem to see the look in his face. Here is a link for all you vets. https://www.va.gov/opa/pressrel/pressrelease.cfm?id=1609

I just don't understand not standing at attention during the anthem. That has nothing to do with the political environment today.
