I'll say it again... Let the Army determine whether he acted appropriately when wearing the Army uniform or not and then let the cards fall where they may.

There is no way he is getting treason, that is wishful thinking in today's day and age. I'm guessing awol with time already served, general discharge, and all allowances forfeited in the time he was awol.

everytime i see these stories i just sit there and wonder how in the heck did we get to this point. If this stuff had happened 50-75-100 years ago, it would have been stopped. Guess it goes back to you put a frog in cold water and slowly turn the heat up, he will boil to death...

Boiling frog - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Seems like some scientists put it to the test! I dont know how someone removed a frogs brain.

Anyways, desertion was actually alot more common in all previous wars. During the revolutionary and civil war people deserted en masse and many more were also punished by death en masse. But im guessing, those wars too, we would have never bargained terrorists for the release of a deserter.

now why do ya gotta go and bust my bubble like that! i did say slowly though and they said slowly worked :) But not just desertion but our society as a whole. There are a lot of things that as time progresses, people are becoming more comfortable with.

I believe it's the way any society goes, look at Rome, though it was also some of these changes that lead to their downfall. Society has to change, if it doesn't it goes the way of Sparta. Even Japan, when they refused outside influence, it didn't last long, the outside forced their way in. Same with China.

That doesn't mean I agree with the direction this country takes at times, but it's inevitable.

Why do people act as though society is crumbling? Gays, dope, and adulterine presidents have been around as long as this great nation and thousands of years before that... I guess the new found media coverage of things make people think the topics being covered are new as well.

I think that's why. Gays, dope, and adulterine presidents are now mainstream and Christians and people hunting for sport are now looked at with scorn.

Christians are still the majority when it comes to any one group. Hunting for sport historically has been reserved for nobility or the richest of the rich (hunting in general is a different story)... I'd actually wager that hunting for sport is near an all time high.

I don't disagree with the mindset of you and many others on here, I just think we as a group tend to blow things out of proportion far too often.

Of course we do. Society isn't necessarily crumbling, it's changing. If we held on to our 1700 ways and customs, we would be backward as hell and nonetheless better.

BB was the Tailban's favorite Chai boy (IMO) is the reason he still has the lump three feet higher than his rear end. I don't think, and could be wrong, that we, USA, CIA, FBI or military, ever traded five high value targets for one guy publicly. Having served overseas, this was brought up in most of our briefs.

I didn't mean to hijack. The Bergdahl thing makes me sick to my stomach. I thought that it would go along with the title.
