You poor boys and your toy trucks constantly breaking down. I'll hit 200K on my Jeep in a few weeks. Worst thing I have dealt with is replacing the entire a/c system.
I quartered one that was gut shot. The rest I gutted and threw in whole. Put a tarp down to cover the folded down seats and took them home for skinning and butchering.
you must have a pre-2003. Anything after that would've rusted away years ago. ...and I was a Jeep guy prior to 2013. My 02, 99, and 93 were all beasts. Although they couldn't tow more than 3500#. Both my 08 Ram quad-cab 1500 Hemi and 13 Wrangler JK had skin cancer by the time they were 5 and 3 years old, respectively.
you obviously don't get yours serviced at Willowbrook Ford...they tried to deny me a rear differential seal fix because of my "custom lift kit." Now I don't get mine serviced there anymore either. or at least until those rust spots start popping up... Big 3 dance off!
WOW....that was quite the grenade I tossed about getting a Ford/ Chevy war going. No one really answered my question about the possible Achilles heal the Fords may have....ELECTROYSIS. The Ford has aluminum sitting on top of a steel frame....what's going to happen to the aluminum guys??????????????? Not bashing Ford, it's just a legit question. Dodge?????? Oh yes, they make those little neons and PT cruisers right ?
@montec Just to answer your question and elaborate: Electrolytic corrosion wouldnt be the issue here, as that requires a flow electromotive force or EMF, the vehicle would be grounded so this is highly unlikely. It would be galvanic corrosion in this case. A simple isolation of the dissimilar metals would suffice to prevent this. As a naval architect and marine engineer I deal with the intricacies of various forms of corrosion and the science of metallurgy on a daily basis.
So all this Ford,Chevy, Dodge, put all in half ton trucks. Were is the deisel BOYS! The real man trucks.. ♂️♂️♂️ Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Diesels are too expensive to maintain unless you're doing a crap load of pulling and need the torque. My F250 has the 6.2L gas and I'm pretty happy with it pulling 12K of fertilizer on a cart a few times a year. I don't have to deal with exhaust fluid or stupid expensive oil changes. If I needed a diesel for a cattle/horse trailer or a big boat or a camper then I might buy one.
I’ll just leave this here...(warning:some people may find this inappropriate)lol “Not all those who wander are lost”
if I had room for any more toys I would scour the internet for a cherry 00-01 Cherokee Classic. BULLETPROOF. I had 187k on my 93 before it got t-boned by a Yukon Denali - it didn't even bend the frame but totaled the Yukon. Took the pro-rated cash from the kid's insurance company, bought a 99 Cherokee Classic and then and then gave the 93 to my sister and she put another 15-20k on it before she sold it to a guy to turn into a mud buggy. It's probably still rolling around somewhere. Sold the 99 for an 02 Wrangler. That was fun, too.
I love the "American Made" truck argument. For 2017 here is the rank by TDC (Total Domestic Content). Chevy and Dodge don't even place in the top 5 and let's not forget about the great bailout that kept GM and Chrysler out of bankruptcy. Silverado's are built in Mexico and Ram's are built in Mexico and Michigan. 1. 2017 Ford F-150 (85%) - Assembled US 2. 2017 Honda Ridgeline (78.5%) - Assembled US 3. 2017 Toyota Tundra (73.5%) - Assembled US
