I am not driving a truck made out of old been cans. Another thing about Ford's the clowns that buy a Raptor and chirp about how great their pick up is, how are you going to pull a trailer with a 6 cylinder engine?
Yet you'll fly in a passenger plane made out of them... Like a bat out of hell with twin turbos, 375 hp and 470 lb-ft of torque. The Raptor is a recreational vehicle made to market to the look at me I'm an off roader crowd.
I've not heard of any problems from steel and aluminum in the Ford trucks. I've not looked at any of them to see how everything is made. I assume since there were so many uber critical people on the internet about the aluminum bodies that if there were a problem it would be well known by now.
I have the twin turbo charged 3.5L V-6 F150 and it pulls my travel trailer like a champ. Destroys my last Silverado with the 5.3L and gets better gas mileage. Not only does it tow better, it is much quieter while towing. I have owned a hand full of Silverados, this is my first F150.
I drove Fords for 15 years before my Silverado. I like the cockpit of the Chevy, and I shoot Muzzy's mechanical muzzy's.
I consider that a compliment from a ford driver. In all honesty the thing I like the most about my Chevy is that is is free, I do not pay for gas, oil changes, insurance, even car washes.
My 2015 F150 (not a Raptor but has the 3.5 Eco) twin turbo pulls over 12k lbs. More than their V8. More than any Chevy or Dodge 1500. And it's faster than all of them, too. I've never been a Ford guy before, but since every Dodge/Jeep I've bought since 08 had visible body rust w/in 4 years (or less in the case of the Jeep) and I could get a lot more truck for the money Ford vs. Chevy; not to mention the supercab w/ a 6 1/2 bed option not available in a Chevy, it was a no brainer. The jaw dropping V6 performance was a bonus. And it is a bonus. Smokes any (stock) 5.3 on the road. Noticeably faster than Hemis, too.
I don't think so and I'm pretty sure I'd know if I was. But...if I was, would that be a bad thing? Are you being critical of someone being critical of critical people? Because if so, that'd be pretty hypocritical. Maybe even moreso then when I might have done it.
crew cab yes; supercab not an available option. Crew cab + 6 1/2' bed = not fitting in my garage. Of course since my 2" lift and 35s neither does this one. speed was but one power metric where the F150 is better. Towing also.
If you really want to make that thing go, buy a handheld tuner. I have a Intune Diablo Sport for mine.
I've owned both the 3.5 and 2.7L Ecoboost and love them both. I have a 93 octane Livernois tune on my 2.7 and while it doesn't have the same kick in the pants my 3.5 did with the same tune it has enough giddy up to keep me happy. I average about 19 mph around town with the 2.7 and depending on highway speeds anywhere from 21-23 is about average. I also put a couple dampers in the frame to smooth out the ride.
I'm still under warranty for another 5k miles or until November (whichever hits first) so just before deer season rolls around a tune is on the agenda. In lieu of that, I am using the Pedal Commander for now - wow. Just wow. Still has turbo lag but significantly less pedal lag. Cool thing about the PC is it's totally warranty safe and also works on my wife's Edge, so when I get to install my tuner upgrade it's going on hers and that little Edge is going to be a scream to drive. Even with my lift and 35s my ride is -much- smoother on choppy roads than my dad's 14 Silverado Z71 which is bone stock. What dampers did you use, Justin? Just under the bed?
