The damn DNR must be out sniping again. I saw the truck heading E. on Hwy 14, just W. of Elmerald Grove. Must have been 20 or so deer. Stacked right up to the roof. That's the only thing I could think of when I saw them w/the green tags. I did'nt realize they were still out there shooting deer. All that's gonna do is screw up our hunting again this fall.

That sucks, they just killed a lot of deer right there! You could probably double that number and then some!

Make sure you attend one of the meetings coming up in your area and express outrage at this b.s.

    March 19
2009 Wisconsin Deer Management Unit information and review and DMU goal and boundary meetings will be held at locations throughout the state. The meetings will provide hunters and the public a chance to get up to date deer management unit information, preliminary deer population estimates and proposed 2009 deer hunting season structure. Local wildlife biologists will be on hand at each meeting to provide information and answer questions. These meetings will have a second segment devoted to the current DMU boundary and goal review process. The public will be able to comment on goal and boundary concepts created by the Deer Committee and DMU Stakeholder Panel. This will also be an opportunity for the public to propose new DMU goal and boundary concepts of their own. Most meetings will last 3-4 hours, beginning with an open house format, leading into formal presentations and discussions. Other topics attendees can expect to learn more about include: CWD updates; winter severity; local buck and antlerless harvest histories; the Sex- Age- Kill (SAK) deer population estimation process; and deer population estimates, distribution and abundance. For more information, contact the DNR wildlife biologist for the DMUs listed for each meeting.

Kenosha, Racine, Walworth, Waukesha and Milwaukee counties, CWD DMUs 77B, 77C, 77C-CWD, 77M, Big Bend/Vernon Fire Station No. 3, W223 S7475 Woodland Lane, Big Bend, Located just south of the intersection of Hwys 43 and 164, on the west side of Hwy 164, open house 5:30-8:30 p.m., Brian Glenzinski: 262-574-2116, Marty Johnson: 262-884-2391, Tim Lizotte: 262-574-2120

Not saying its right or wrong, but anyone can join these teams. Its a application and maybe a few dollars depending on where you live. I was on a team for a year and we cleaned out some airport areas. The deer were getting hit by landing and taking off aircraft. It was an interesting job and if you have accsess to a walk in freezer, you will never run out of venison. Plus we kept the "hunters for the hungry" very happy with our donations.

I believe that they are no longer donating deer to pantries any more since CWD was discovered. So the deer go to the land fill.

Hank I got a reply from Keith Warnke and said currently no sharp shooting that he has knowledge
of in the CWD zones. I am going to email him back and ask if they are in the Non-CWD zones.
David not that they are telling anyone about. I could not find anything on the Wisconsin Dnr
    website.

Could you see the condition of the bodies. Could they have possibly been winter kill or something? I know it's going to impact our herd this year. We've had 200 inches of snow here at my house. The town of Redfield about 30 minutes away has officially received something like 350 inches of snow this winter. Folks, that's 29 feet. Oh sure some melts, it settles and all that... but it really takes a toll on critters.

I was also thinking it could of been deer hides from the taxidermists in the area.
Green tags were what we used this past season for deer.
