All right, now I've read this ENTIRE thread, something I rarely do, and I don't know what's on the link Germ posted because as a GOOD BUCKEYE, I absolutely REFUSE to sign up for anything called "MICHIGAN Sportsman!!!," but if the above facts are indeed FACTS, then I see it as an accomplishment, nonetheless, but not near the same accomplishment as someone killing 3 bucks on public/private non-managed land, with a bow. It sounds as if the young girl is VERY INTELLIGENT, and very determined, but it also sounds as if she's been afforded much better opportunities than MOST of us will ever have.

Am I diminishing her accomplishments, or acknowledging her situation??? Not sure, I'm not saying they are not accomplishments, yet at the same time, put an average hunter in her position, with her land, shack-blinds, etc, what would his or her success rates be like???

Likewise, most of the places I hunt, if someone ain't afraid of walking a little, keeping a decent scent control plan, a 20yds shot ain't hard to make. Often times, EFFORT is what separates successful hunters from unsuccessful hunters, but opportunity can also be a GREAT factor. You won't expect the next WR Buck to come from Vermont, and if you do, you don't know much about statistics and the Vermont deer herd. Iowa, Illinois, Kansas, Indiana maybe, but not Vermont.

I'd be willing to bet if this story involved 100" bucks shot off of public land people's tunes would be different. Instead they are very large bucks shot on private and heavily managed land so everyone is all jealous. The girl has a very fortunate situation that she is taking advantage of and working hard to improve for herself. Good for her.

At least green is a good color for hunters.

I know that Co-op very well. That is why I get a kick out of some listing "facts", because they don't know any. Atleast you took the time to read the thread;)

Like a guy stated in Michigan forum. The average MI hunter would have lobbed one in from 100 yds, lost or missed the deer, and then spent the rest of his life talking about the one that got away:D

I say it too Germ, as long as they don't seem like they are trying to convince me they are some kind of hunting ninja. This article about the girl is great and I doubt she claims to be the greatest hunter in the world(maybe she's being groomed to fill Tiffanys spot in a few years) but as far as hunting prowess and seminars attended and knowledge of the whitetail deer, OK If you say so. Really how much of that stuff is necessary in that hunting situation. Sight in your gun and know which way the wind is blowing.

I'm playing devils advocate a little here but I have an 8 year old boy and one that just turned 15. Both know plenty about deer and deer hunting, but I'm honest enough to say that without guidance they would probably be unsuccessfully hunting for their boots most days.

I think you can put an average hunter in any of our stands and you would see similar results. IMO, the hard part is finding where to hang the stand, not the actual kill. I say congrats to the girl. She's doing alot better than I am....and I even gun hunt!:o:D

Well I just look at it as a discussion. We don't have to always sweet nice debates(obviously), but just because I may not give the cliche "Good job" reply post doesn't mean I'm jealous. Just looking beneath the surface somewhat.

This was the post before GMMAT's and no one seemed to find a problem with it:

Coincidence, I think not. But it makes for entertaining reading anyway.
