    When you buy cheap crap!

I was drawing my bow back last night checking on my peep sight alignment with my new HHA Optimizer sight and the release completely just let go! My hand wasn't even on the shaft that attaches to the wrist wrap.

That's what I get for buying the cheapest BPS RedHead branded release I could find! It's not even a month old yet, and the new bow isn't even week old! I wasn't at full draw yet, so hopefully nothing is broken on the bow, but it goes to the pro shop tomorrow to have it checked out just to be safe. I hope the bow checks out ok.

I should have read the reviews on the website, but I didn't do that before buying it in store. Good thing I kept the receipt, because it's going back to BPS first chance I have to get down there.

Anyway...My arm hurts like heck and I just had to vent a bit.

Another member here last year had a thumb release blow up on him, leaving him with about 20% vision in his shooting eye, ended his career as a carpenter, and his bowhunting career. Sorry to hear this happened to you, and glad it wasn't WORSE.

The bow should be ok as long as the release parts didn't damage it and it had an arrow nocked.

Unfortunately there was no arrow nocked, that's why I'm worried.

Long ago (before I learned to ALWAYS have an arrow nocked) I dry fired my bow. Didn't phase it a bit. I hope the same holds true for yours.

Ouch. You didn't pinch pennys on the sight, why the release? What kind of bow was involved?

I was asking myself the same question after it happened. When I bought the release I couldn't understand the wide range of prices for things that looked identical. Now I know!

The bow is a PSE Stinger, and the archery shop said it's ok. I got real lucky with the bow.

Nice to hear the bow is ok ( Stingers are a tough bow ), but that there is a prime example of why I never buy cheap crap ...... Especially Archery equipment , save and get a Scott, Tru-Fire or such .......
