Don't be too discouraged. I'm pretty new here too. I've found that some questions are more difficult to answer and take someone expereinced in that to answer, and if they don't see it, then you may not get an answer.
It's just the way it goes. I like this site because the traffic is very low and and you get a more intimate answer. However, even on a huge website like archery talk, your new thread will end up pages deep in a matter of hours and never answered there either.
The best thing I've found to do is to bump it a few times.
Also try and do a search. If you can't find your answer there, say so.

Its a little slow around here right now. It's kinda the off season and I'm not real sure we have very many members from out West in your area. As it gets closer to deer season the traffic will really pick up and I know there will be some Western guys around to help you out.

Don't give up on us just yet. In the mean time check out the states Natural Resources websites your interested in. They can give you a lot of information on seasons and species available to hunt.

A lot of Western states have lotteries for big game tags. So check to see when those deadlines are for entry. Some may have already past.

Clickish? I don't think it's clickish as much as some of the people here actually know each by meeting up on hunting excursions, at the yearly gtg, or professionally through archery shows etc. But by no means are they avoiding you or your topic/thread on purpose.
As for answering questions, that depends on whether people are interested in the topic. There are alot of topics here I don't participate in, but may just look at out of curiosity .
don't get discouraged because no one's answering your post. sit back and read some of the other posts for awhile, and put in your own responses. You'll learn that there are certain subjects here that really get the crowd going, like Hoyt bows suck (that's for Raceway). or mechanical broadhead vs fixed, or drop away rests vs whisker biscuit.
Now if you wanna meet some of us from the site, come out to the gtg in June. Right now there are 30 of us signed up, probably will be about 50-75 by the time the day comes around.
    Welcome to the site!
