So drought hit a ridiculous level here and spring plots were basically dead save some buckwheat. Now we've got rain on and off for week and two spots that were extremely dry are now so wet that I doubt we get them planted (they have too much clay under the thin top soil)....this could be one of the worst food plot years yet.
The Federal Government has declared a Natural Disaster for 69 of 92 Indiana counties - sucks to be in one of those 62, the other 30 aint in much better shape.
Yeah honestly the other 30 just barely missed out. We're in better shape up north now with the last week than the southern part, but as an example: Last time this guy has mowed his yard....first week of May.....insanely dry...and now wet.
We're getting rain here now but the alfalfa is weak along with the clover and the farm pond is down 2 1/2 foot.
the lack of rain caused me to see something that i have never seen before. the farmers around here are picking cornfields. growing up in indiana that is something that i never experienced.
