Typically this is the best week of the year for hunting, but I just don't know if the rut is as on as everyone seems to be saying it is. I've hunted 5 sits since Saturday and have seen little to no real activity. I've seen a couple smaller bucks out seeking, but no chasing at all. This morning I had a doe and fawn walk through my food plot. About an hour later I had a really nice young buck come into the plot, work the licking branch and sniff the scrape. He then proceeded to cross those does scent trail and paid it no attention and went off in a different direct. I just don't think they are ready.
After I got down, I pulled a chip and found this video from Oct. 31st. Obviously this doe is no where near being in estrus.

I totally agree, I been hunting dark to dark since the 2nd and have been seeing zero rutting activity, this isn’t a tell all but where I hunt in Ohio the weather has been very warm, today was the first cool day of my hunt and it’s pretty bad when 50* is cool. The Best is yet to come.

Agree. my area is still a week or 2 out. Small ones seeking but no chasing. Bucks are still feeding for the most part. Our season is over this Saturday and I bet we will miss it.

Hardcore chasing (mature buck) opened up yesterday here in central Minnesota. Didn't see much before yesterday though, just some small bucks harassing does, etc.

I think the we were off to a great start last weekend as i saw some younger bucks showing interest in the does but not even close to chasing yet....now with the rainy warmer weather we had i think it set them back again....might not see the rut in full swing until gun season this year! (In central WI)

I agree with this a lot more than the "dominant bucks have does locked down" logic on the other thread.

Not a damn thing happening at my place just the typical parade of does that never ceases to piss me off, nothing worse than a sit full of does.

Mature bucks have been chasing hard here for a week. I know of many that have been killed in the last 10 days that were chasing. I watched a mature buck tending a doe chase off a parade of bucks all morning Saturday. It's definitely full rut hunting here now.

Definitely saw a lot of prerut chasing last week when I shot my buck. Mostly bucks 3 or younger. Most mature bucks around here do not start moving until around Veterans Day.

Every young buck is walking around with a Woody now.
Just got in from the stand and had 4 bucks walk under this sit. 3 yearlings and a 120ish 4 x 5.
    All following does.
Older bucks should start playing anyday now.

Saw a little more action this evening. Had a 2.5 year old harassing a doe. She did not seem overly receptive. A little later, there were multiple young bucks chasing does around. Have yet to see a mature buck on his feet.
Seems like I have quite a few things working against me right now. Moon phase isn't great and I still have standing corn around me. I'm still waiting to hear those grunts and clicks running through the timber.

Yesterday in Ohio was my first real rut like day. Watched a fight, a chase, three scrapes get worked. I normally see about 4 does and maybe one buck in this area. I saw 8 bucks and 6 doe yesterday. Very active.

Weather here has been hot with rain, not ideal conditions for the rut. I haven't seen anything, but have seen some seeking bucks on my trailcam. Hoping it starts to heat up this week as I took of this afternoon and Thursday...

What part of Ohio were you guys hunting? I was down SE and didn’t have any rutting activity.
