You don't see the insanity? Tell me who lives in the majority of the border/coastal states that are blue... then tell me where the MAJORITY of the electoral votes came from. Then tell me that the working americans, the educated americans, farmers, ranchers, contractors, fishing guides and small business owners voted this cheese-sack into office. And that it didn't have to do with the fact that he's black, possibly Muslim. There were states that had over 90% of their counties go red and because of the population on one city, the state would go blue. You're supporting my facts, the red counties in Northern Michigan didn't vote for Obama. As I said in my thread, "I don't have a problem supporting someone that has been laid off and doesn't have work. I have a problem with someone that abuses the system, I have a problem with someone that expects me to do something for them with no intentions of EVER doing anything for someone else." Being laid off is entirely different than not wanting to work, or being lazy. Correct me if I'm wrong but laid off means that there wasn't enough work to do, and that if there was... that person would still be working. You actually have to be employed to be laid off, that's the difference in what I'm talking about. Anti-Union and Anti-Social Programs is an extremely broad statement. I work with Union contractors nearly every single day, I'm not anti-union in the least... unless there is abuse in the system. The same goes for social programs, there are A LOT of people in this country that need help, lets help them with purpose. Let's not give them a monthly check, without them showing us that they're willing to do something to help themself. Why can't the government create jobs for these people to do to EARN their freaking check? How much time have you spent in South Texas, or anywhere in Texas for that matter? How much time have you spent paying local taxes for social programs that go to illegals? Notice the blue counties in Texas, Southern California, South Florida... I could go on. That's what I don't support.
It's fun getting all you guys all riled up. :d There is plenty I could reply with to some of your reponses but I think enough fuel has been thrown on the fire. If your a Democrat everything is the Repulicans' fault. If your a Republican everything is the Democrats' fault. The truth is that we need both parties to keep each other in line...it's not good to get too far to the left or the right IMO. Later
Thank you, it's actually pretty wonderful. And had Teton County in Wyoming not been taken over by rich, liberal Californians, 2 of my 3 home states wouldn't have a blue county in them. :D
You know the three word I'm most sick of TODAY in regards to the current administration? Portugese Water Dog If I have to hear one more news anchor, radio show, or internet article on what kind of damn dog they picked and are playing with I'm going to lose it. Our president is great he "rescued" a dog and loves playing catch with it and taking it on walks and doesn't it make you feel all warm inside. Also another thing that irked me is how many times they made sure to say that it was President Obama that authorized deadly force in the pirate situation. President Obama is a mainstream media darling and they only touch stuff that puts him in a good light, it worked in his campaign and got him elected(imo) and apparently the brainwashing continues.
Just FYI... Check this out. This is astounding and infuriating. Why isn't this in the papers? WHY ARE WE BANKRUPT? You think the war in Iraq is costing us too much? Boy, was I confused. I have been hammered with the propaganda that it is the Iraq war and the war on terror that is bankrupting us. I now find that to be RIDICULOUS. I hope the following 14 reasons are forwarded over and over again until they are read so many times that the reader gets sick of reading them. Don't you think we have enough CITIZENS to worry about rather than paying or illegal immigrants?
I wish there was a wall there too. Quote from John McCain regarding Immigration: "We need workers in this country. There are certain jobs that Americans are simply not willing to do."
One of the many things that John McCain was wrong on and a reason I didn't vote for him in the primaries. Don't think just because he was the republican nom that he was beloved. I'm not sure about everyone else on the right side but I had to hold my nose to vote for him. I personally thought both choices stunk this year.
I agree...the ammount of money we tax payers are ponying up for people who are not even american citizens is disgusting.
Sorry, I couldn't resist. You are right that not all republicans are the same. Not all democrats are the same. There is a lot of talk in this thread along the lines of "all democrats are for this" or "all republicans are for that". The truth is that the majority of these politicians are not as different as people think with some exceptions of a few being far to the left or right. Obama is obviously very Liberal.
John McCain is 100% correct, we do need workers in this country. Legal workers, aliens not illegal immigrants. That's why we have the Work Visa program. John McCain didn't say anything about allowing ILLEGAL's to work. Period.
Dubbya...my point was that McCain (the republican) is in no more of a itching hurry to keep these people out with a wall than anyone else and you can't dispute that.
But he did have a plan to at the very least enforce the borders, whether it was with a wall or not. I'll be the first to admit that he wasn't a superb candidate either, I'm not arguing that. I think that he really did intend on locking down the borders but like any politician he played middle ground to attain middle of the road voters from the opposing parties.
I think one bumper sticker summed it up perfectly, "Vote for McCain, He Sucks LESS!" Who was it that added up the cost of a huge concrete wall from water to water and armed guards for 30 years, and it only added up to be like 1/5 of what illegals cost us annually? Why aren't there plans for this dang wall?!?
Actually, the TRUTH is that we need more people in Washington there for something other than their own personal interests. When people in Washington put AMERICA first, then this country will be well on it's way to recovery. I personally don't like the idea of Lawyers running this country, I think this country should be run by people from a many varied bunch of walks of life, unfortunately, the majority of people running this country are LAWYERS, many of which are not in touch with the common person and problems of the common person.
Ah yes.. the ole' build a wall and problem is solved argument. C'mon.. no one seriously believes this "method" holds any ground in an society wherein we pride ourselves on certain human rights. History has proven just how effective walls are.. in fact.. they are most effective once they are torn down. Walls have a funny way of keeping ideals in.. rather than people out. I am not ignorant enough to believe that by building a wall it will solve problems.. in fact it will create many more... and those "more" will now affect me and my freedoms.. and that is not something I am willing to give up. Are any of you.. ??
I can think of trade issues, and some others... but there has to be SOME plan. People that live in the Northern US don't have to experience this on a daily basis. When it's in your face every day, it tends to be a exemplified.
A lot has been said about our recent politics in this one thread. I will just contribute this. We all saw people who didn't like Bush, and it is obvious that some people do not like Obama. Those who talk down on our leaders (although they obviously have the right) do nothing to contribute to moving through our current issues and finding a solution. Whether you like the president or not, he is still the leader of our country, and he needs his citizens' support to accomplish anything. I may not have voted for the man who is sitting in the White House, but I do realize that disputing over it will not change that. Simply "riding it out" for four years will not fix anything. We all know that these are hard times. Our leaders need support and our citizens need to keep level heads.
Do you just make this up as you go along or do you actually get some kind of Roveinisum news flyer biweekly.
