Claiming to know how someone hunts, without actually hunting with them, is speculation at best.

There are many people here at BH.com that have a lot of time into hunting deer. It is hard for someone else to really know what tactics, techniques and skill/ knowledge level they really have, unless you've hunted with or have known them for a good bit of time.

Personally, in my 40+ years of hunting deer, I can only think of one way I haven't hunted for deer......Pit blind!

    Ah hell, everybody speculates.

On that note...... Although I've never met him and haven't known him very long, my gut feeling tells me that Magicman seems like a guy who could get it done anywhere you put him. I really like his chances at this.

There are a lot of them here. People that really know deer. Good luck this season to all.

I've met the guy but never hunted with him. I agree 100% Greg that Todd knows his stuff, I really enjoy the many phone conversations him and I have had talking whitetails. There's more people on this site that should be on more list's then people are given credit for. A number of the guys on here won't shoot nothing under 4.5 years of age unless he's big and the next guy will take the 1st 3.5 that's offered to him. Were all different hunters and have different Ideas on what we'd like to shoot. A persons area and what they consider a big buck In their area would determine my picks on here. They don't necessarily have to be big racked animals either as we know not all places are equipped with that.

GregH, Todd (Magicman), Shed,-there bucks aren't only nice bucks Inches wise there usually 5.5+ In age also. That's what Impresses me more.

I mean sure, you can photo shop stuff, but Im pretty sure about the guys I mentioned in my list, and I know that I would love to have those guys down to hunt my woods if I could. I would love to have them come in and scout with me and explain how to use the terrain...where is the shame in that??

Honestly? I would say almost every single person here could probably get it done before me:D I'm the first to admit, I'm not a good deer hunter at all. I'm learning, and one can only hope I become better, but I do respect the members on here, and there's plenty of them that simply get it done year in and year out. That gets my respect.

I think that there is a few guys around here that could come hunt a piece and be successful, BUT I think that for them to do it consistantly, it would require they put in the same time that they do on their own props. For example: I promise you that if let Duke, Buckeye, and yes Quik all have access to my properties in shed season, they could come back and knock down some horn in the fall. IMO most of the guys that get it done in the fall pay for it in shoe leather in the early spring.

Most of us have no idea what the others woods are about each fall. Of course, there are some individuals out there that can pretty much hunt anywhere and kill animals. Pictures posted on the internet and half-truths spouted off are of little value to me in terms of judging who can/cannot put down deer each year. There are some guys on here that are undercover killing machines.

Family is great. Daugher starts 1st grade next year. She had a wonderful kindergarten class and is excited to learn. My son starts kindergarten this year and is eager to get started. My baby girl is days away from walking. All three kids and my wife are healthy...what else could I ask for? The avatar is from a picture I snapped the other weekend when we found a creek and walked it..found the little waterfall. It was fantastic. Next thing for me is to get my kids out on the canoe and start fishing now that they can swim. How is your family doing Landon?

Uh... yeah, I definitely think there are members that could get it done in my woods quickly. Buckeye was here for 3 days and I've got several new "sets" to hang in order to arrive at "thump city" with a "rage in the cage." :D

I’ve only killed one public land buck, (see avatar) but I’ve never really hunted public land until the last year or 2. I’ve only recently started hunting new lands in archery season and I enjoy it. Check my success in about 5 years & see how well I’ve done at it. Over the past few years I feel I have become FAR too comfortable hunting the same place year in & out. Over the winter I attempted to view my main spot as if it was “new” to me and I picked 5-6 additional trees to hunt from. We’ll see how that pans out this fall.

The key to the house will be at the neighbors, knock yourselves out. Just make sure you wash the dishes, drain the pipes and haul the garbage off when you leave.

Ah Grasshopper, you sell too many of us short. LOL Sounds like you're wrapped up in YOUR way of doing it. Change your tactics a bit. Think outside the box a bit. Trails and summer sightings are not your answer. Move a lot. 2 times and move on. IF you have permanent treestands you're using... you're relying on luck or chance.

I don't know the people on here enough to say with the exception of Gri22ly. However, there are a few people on here that I suspect are pretty good hunters that might make the list if I knew them better.

David, I move a lot and I don't use permanent stands. I see lots of deer just not the best bucks in my woods..I think I smell....:busted:
