SEC is supposed to announce Monday that Texas AM will be joining. It is also rumored that Clemson, Florida St and Missouri could be coming as well. Everyone is trying for a super conference in which you can send a few teams to BCS bowls and get that money spready around. In a few years there will be 3 or 4 conferences left containing 20 teams apiece, at the end of the year they will send 2 or 3 teams each, spread the money and then boast we sent 3 teams to a BCS bowl this year...
Until a playoff system is implemented, I could care less about conferences or anything that establishes the outcome of the season... I still enjoy watching the games themselves for the competitive and athletic value (as opposed to, say... NBA basketball up until the last couple weeks of the season), but have a very jaded view of the whole bowl system as a whole.
TCU is joining the big east, like that makes sense. As Greg eluded to, until the playoff system is fixed, it's the way it has to be. You only get a BCS bowl if you're in a BCS conference. TCU could have been in the hunt for the title game last season had they been in a BCS conference.
I kinda like it 4 super conferences, all with a true championship game. And I just think it is funny that the Aggies come to the SEC and say "Texas is being mean! They won't let us win.Can we come play with you!" and the SEC just grins and says "Sure thing Aggie, we will be glad to let you play with us..." and as they walk away, the SEC turns around gives a head nod to Texas as to say "It's ok, we won't let them win either."
I like A&M to the SEC, also FSU and Clemson, however I think the SEC should make a hard push at Oklahoma instead of Mizzou.
Where would OU go when the Big 12 dissolves? Because it's going to happen. Will they go indie like Texas?
