OK, unboxed it and put it together.

    Good:
    • It's a pretty bow, especially for the price point. Well, the riser is anyway. Limbs are plain black
    • All the threaded accessory holes seem aligned correctly. Lots of options
    • Draws smooth; I'm a bit weak at 50# but nothing a few weeks of practice won't get me ready for

    Bad:
    • It appears the lower limb might be a squidge mis-aligned. I want it to be an optical illusion but I'd say it leans about 1/16" off. No idea if that's going to affect performance but I will fling a few tomorrow and see. Hopefully it's the limb and not the riser. They'll replace for free either way
    • Stock string is GARBAGE but that was a known factor and I planned on getting a new one anyway
    • Stock limb bolts are Allen keyed and functional; but I wanted a tool-less take down/set up so I bought Samick Sage hand bolts and they fit fine

I still have my first recurve bow. I shot my first deer with it in 1968. I know that I had it for a couple of years before I was allowed/old enough to go hunting. I'm guessing it is about 54 years old minimum. I'd be afraid to shoot it now.

I forgot to add that the above bow is an Indian Archery 35# recurve. The arrows I shot out of it were cedar shafts with turkey feather fletching that my dad built. The broadheads were solid metal ( sharpen with a file) 3 blades. I think they were made by Bear and I don't remember the weight.

Daylight saving time ends next weekend. Another hour of daylight at the end of the day, and sun is coming up earlier in the mornings. :poke:

Something I haven't done in the past is shoot at longer distance. The max I shot is 20 yards and put a 15 yard max shot range during hunting. So my goal will be shoot longer distance, maybe 30 - 40 yards. My goal will be to get my max range out to 25 yards by end of summer.

Anyone else setting any goals for them self?

since I am just starting out; pretty much hitting the target is a goal. But otherwise I'd say by September I would like to feel comfortable out to 20-25 in hunting situations.

shot mine for the first time today...
using 505gr Victory VAP 300s with vanes. I know, I know. But just to get the feel. I'll strip those off before too long and re-fletch them.
After pumping my first 2 shots into the drywall above the Block in the basement (appx 10 yards) I settled in a bit. Maybe 20 shots, more 10 rings than wrist slaps. So not too shabby.

Also got this on my front porch today:

Honestly, one of the nicest pieces of archery equipment I've bought in a long time. Very nice quality; compact, tough. I'll dump the foam arrow holders in favor of a mounted quiver, but other than that top notch.

It's so compact that it's perfect as a carry-on. Assuming I get completely comfortable and locked in shooting it; I will definitely take it if I happen to travel for work during hunting season...
    (I'm talking to you, Brett!)

I apologize for the pics, recently the phone camera started getting fuzzy on that end. Weird.

Having been home more often than not lately, har har.. I've been shooting my Fleetwood a whole bunch, addicting it is. I'm really digging a 30# bow, I can shoot that thing until I'm bored of shooting it, not worn out from shooting it. Just plain fun.

Today was the first really nice day in weeks...weeks. Been some decent days but not above 50. Was dying to go fling some with the stick bow but duty called and I had to work. Hoping this weekend. Crap, need to strip my vanes and refletch. Be nice to lay off the Netflix for a couple days.
