Hunted Saturday and Sunday in WI. Had 2 does about 100 yards out and had a little fawn hanging out under my stand for about an hour. Good start, hopefully it will keep getting better!

This bout of cool weather has finally started to get me in the game. Unfortunately it's looking like the start of the season is going to have some above normal temps around here.

Hoping for the darn corn to start coming out. This rain and cool temps are killing me. Good luck to those of you who are already out, be safe.

Opening weekend I'll be in western South Dakota trying some spot-and-stalk muley hunting. I give myself about a 5% chance of filling a tag, but it's a good way to spend the early season.

Here are a few pictures from my spot in NE PA. Not getting a lot of pictures of giant bucks, but these will do for me.

Solid bucks Mr. O. That last one looks like a stud for sure.

I'm hoping to get a hunt in sometime early next week, good luck to any going out this weekend!

I got some more stands up this weekend and checked some cams. Three of them were really disappointing, but one of my cameras was money. I've got two 4x4's that are definite shooters and a main frame 4x3 that would be a dream buck. I hope they start showing up more frequently.

Ghilie took the words right out of my mouth. Beautiful bucks in broad daylight...doesn't get any better than that.

Beautiful bucks Boof, hope you get a shot at one of them... Ive been running trail cams since July and haven't got a mature buck pic in daylight yet, there starting to make scrapes so hopefully daylight activity will pick up soon.

Heading back up to Wisconsin this weekend and should get at least 3 hunts in, maybe 4. Weather looks like it might be warmer than I would like, but it will be great to get out there. Getting married next weekend so this will be my last hunt for a few more weeks!

One more week and only laziness stops me from getting in the woods.

Starting to get the feel for it, temps have been cooler lately but still probably won't make it out for another 2-3 weeks.

Contemplating trying to hold out until my vacation, but not sure I can wait that long.

This is the most anti-hunting forecast possible for my opening weekend.

That's a downright ugly opener forecast. You planning on trying it still? Don't think I could.

I think my first sit will probably be the 2nd- 3rd week of October, should have a nice cool down then before another warm up to close out the month. Hate to see a warm up for Halloween but looks likely at this point. May get a cool down for the start of my vacation, still cursed by the full moon though.

    Trials and tribulations I guess

I still plan on trying. I'll be in western South Dakota looking for a muley. This heat may help, as the deer will be focused shade and water.

Weekend following the midweek opener is looking good. May try to put 50 up Saturday and Sunday. Sunday looks really good.

Also, now looks like the last two weeks of October are going to be below normal temp wise as well for the Midwest.

Going to pick up some tags this weekend.
