Hello fellas, just wanted to stop in and say good luck this season. Hunt hard and above all HUNT SAFE!
I'm glad to see you guys have some huge bucks on camera! I've been blowing off my archery responsibilities for the last couple of weeks. I have to do some major trail camera and stand work before the end of the month. I have been getting in on some early season goose hunting, though. This is my hunt from yesterday morning where we harvested 15 geese. I like to get in on some waterfowling early in the season so that I can spend all my time deer hunting in October and November.
Jealous of the goose pics. I will be out this coming weekend, we usually whack em pretty good in the early season as well. Hoping for 50 in the next 2 weeks. Planted #25 of crimson clover and another #50 of oats last Wednesday and it is all coming in well. My Freak Show mix from Pastor Andrew is looking awesome. Need to mow the rest of my clover one more time and do a strap check on stands and should be good to go. Will be off one week in Oct. and hoping for the first 2 weeks of Nov. if not the first 3, depends on what work will let me get away with. Won't be long now!!!
I am debating on filming my hunt with my Nikon D3100 DSLR. Is this worth the effort? Never tried filming a hunt before but looks fun.
Self filming is really tough, and I dslr makes it even tougher. You can totally do it, but it's not as easy as it seems. If you do, you need to invest in a good camera arm and an even better fluid head.
I've got an exciting weekend ahead. Five trail cameras to put up, four tree stands to set up, three trail cameras to check and two new properties to scout.
My camera check was pretty disappointing. Here are a couple of the returning fellas. I'm pegging them at around 125-135.
Those don't look too bad to me, Boof. Hopefully your big boys show up though. I just booked my flight to Missouri to hunt with my brother in November. This will be my first time...to hunt out there & to fly with my bow! Excited, but not sure what to expect.
No photos spotted an 8 pointer and a 10 pointer on our land in WI while checking tree stands this past weekend. Heading up Friday morning, can't wait!
Well my private land fell through, going to try and make some last minute calls, fingers crossed. Boof, those are still some very nice deer!
Can start shooting slick heads tomorrow, cant wait since that's all I've been seeing... good luck to all.
Picture perfect opening morning weather. Had 2 does wind me around 6:45 then had 3 fawns mill around under my stand around 8:40. Great start to the season.
