Thinking of switching back to non-dovetail for hunting rig. Armotech HD thoughts?

For the past two seasons, I've sot a dovetail slider sight on my hunting bows. I like the adjustability and the ability to be able to get the sight ring to match the peep ring regardless of diameter.

However, I'm really wanting a tooless adjustment for my next hunting specific sight, and I'm really liking the looks of the Axcel Armotech HD. It gets rave reviews over on AT, but I was curious if any of you guys have any experience with one, or maybe a shop guy (Mobow) has had some experience with one. It will really have to be a great sight since I can get a Sword Apex 3rd plane (what I have right now) for about $30-$40 less, but then again, there's not tooless adjustment.

There are two sights I own that, as far as I'm concerned, are extremely rugged, durable and of high quality. The one (actually I own two of these) that is toolless is the Axcel Armortech HD. Excellent sight!

Note: It is not entirely toolless. To make individual pin adjustments you will need a small allen wrench to loosen the pin you want to move. Once you get the gap right for that particular setup you won't have to adjust the pins anymore and you can use the toolless to gang adjust the range for different things. If you change your setup significantly (much heavier/lighter arrow, +-DW) then you may have to adjust pin gap again.

I've handled the Armortech quite a few times. It's top notch. I'd be considering either this or the Spot Hogg if I were you.

Last fall I had it narrowed down to 2 sights...Axcel AT HD and Spot Hogg Real Deal Wrap. I bought the 4 pin Axcel on sale here for around $135. I thought that was a great deal and I LOVE the sight. Easy to adjust ( I like the audible clicks) and I don't think I will ever go back to a sight that does not have fully protected fibers. Seems to be a well made piece of equipment. The only thing I was worried about was the size of the sight window...it was a little smaller, both inside and outside diameter, than the Real Deal but I quickly realized that it is plenty large once I got it on and looked through it. I think the smaller size has actually helped my accuracy. If you hunt in thicker woods where it gets dark a little quicker or in a blind, you may want to go ahead with a light. The pins are plenty bright under most conditions though. I do not have anything negative to say about this site.

Toolless,(as much as these are) dovetail mount for the ring positioning, and 40 bucks less for a Viper Pro MT. I do think they look like a bad ass sight, if I was solely looking for toolless and non dovetail, I'd have to give these a look. I wish Viper would make a MT H1000 that would be a real contender for a lot less than this.

I was discussing this with Ben today. I think ideally I'm placing an emphasis on tooless adjustment first, dovetail second. Another concern is the fact that I'm going back to a much lighter bow (Marquis), and I'm not sure how much extra weight I want hanging out front. Only time will tell. I think I will temporarily switch my 12" stab and Sword dovetail over onto this bow and see how it handles.
