I feel dumb for asking this question, but how exactly do one pin sights work?

I just got the AXT archer extreme 4 pin set up. Adjustable like a single pin sight as well, push button light for your pins. I have nothing else to compare it to, so I can't really say it is better then anyone elses.

I put a new Trophy Ridge React-One single pin sight on my Element some time back and I absolutely love it.

The single pins generally adjust through the yardage ranges, mine has a gear driven knob you turn to adjust an arrow to any specific yardage. You set the first mark at 20 yards then a second at like 30 and it automatically adjusts the rest of the marks on the scale out to 100 yards. Get a multiple pin sight to do that...it locks down completely if you wish and has an adjustable brightness light on it for the pin but I've never needed it. Generally if it's too dark for the pin to be bright I can't even see through my peep.

I use my range finder to range several spots around my stand where I expect shots are likely, then when a deer walks up I have a lot better idea what yardage to dial it in to.

Just switched from a HHA to a Sword single pin slider. In my opinion the Sword is built better and the tapes are nicer, they have single yardage markers. The sword also has adjustments so if you change your string you dont have to move your tape. It also has second and third axis adjustments

HHA or spot hogg. Any single pin moveable from them is a good sight

Ok I think i understand how they work. What are the benefits of having a single pin vs a multi pin?

Well, with mine...I can shoot it out to 100 yards (which I never do) with just one pin rather than 5 or 7 pins clogging up the view through my sight frame.

Plus, it makes me use my range finder more religiously resulting in me being more accurate on every shot rather than "guessing" at yardages and which pin to use. Most shots are 40 yards and shorter anyway so there's no real need for so many pins in the way for hunting but if I want to practice and play while target shooting out to 100 yards then I can do it easily with the simple turn of a knob and one pin to center in my peep.

A few years ago I never imagined I'd ever go to a single pin but it was out of ignorance....I love it now that I understand the concept.
