I am looking into buying a new bow this year. I have a parker spit fire that has served me well. But I am looking for something differant. With the economy the way it is I cant afford a $700-$1000 bow. I have saw two I really like. The 2012 Bear encounter and the Pse g5 stinger. I like the package on the bear because It has trophy ridge products on it, and I aready have sight pins to make it a 5 pin sight for 15 -55 yard shots plus the sight light. The stinger is ok by itself but I dont like the package thats on it. But I have not shot either because my pro shop doesnt have a range to try them out. Just looking for the opinion on both Thanks junior

I bought the Bear Apprentice 2 RTH in February, mostly for its adjustability. 5000 arrows later I upgraded to the Stinger 3G. A great bow. I prefer it to my son's Brute X. The Brute X is a tiny bit faster due to its agressive cam which leads to a little roughness in the draw. My son doesn't mind it, but after a few hundred arrows with the Stinger 3G, I notice it. I am very happy with every aspect of my Stinger 3G. I would not consider the accessory package with the Encounter. The plastic Trophy Ridge sight on my Apprentice 2 fell off and landed right between my feet. The all metal Cobra replacement was so good I got one for the Stinger. Most of those packages come with a low end Whisker Biscuit. I replaced mine with a NAP Apache drop away, which immediately cut my groups by almost 50%. I am 64 years old, pulling 66 lbs on my Stinger 3G, which is very smooth and accurate. Bob Riess, San Diego

I bought a Bear lights out model several years ago and I am happy with it. I don't know anything about the Encounter model, but I doubt you will have problems with it.

    stinger

After doing some investigation and shootong both bows. Hans down i bought the stinger g5. The finish was nicer than the bear, The draw was smother even with the bear having a larger idle cam. Thanks for the info
