Hey, since i probobly won't be hutning from a stand for a while ive been thinking of making a simple blind. I was going to use a pile of large branches/broken up trees to make a semi circle over looking the field where i'll be hunting. Then i'm going to use some military/camo netting to be draped over the branches. Then i'll add leaves and other types of foliage. I pretty much going after predators and the occasional groundhog, so this is what the blind will be used for. So, do you think this is a good setup? I may put a stool in there while i'm calling or waiting for a responce.
I watch a deer show some one put up on this site about sitting up a blind ever since Ive wanted to set one up looks like fun ...To answer your question set the blind up and use things from the surroundings to help it blend in
do you think that too much cover is bad. Like it may look like a random hill out of nowhere. Should i do a light amount of cover or a dense amount. I'll be hunting this area for many years to come.
Also, make sure that you have a good location to set your blind according to the prevailing wind, coyotes have incredible noses.
As long as it doesnt move I think you are fine We set 3 plywood box blinds last weekend, and hunted out of them today, had deer at 10, 30, 50 and 100 yards not even know they were there, and if they did they surly didnt care. If they cant see a human silhouette you are golden. and Im from Vermont, deer run from their own shadow up here!
