Noticing more activity and movement but only with small bucks. I think these big mature bucks are breeding does as we speak and they are only moving when the does get up. I need to check my camera and see if I’m correct but I don’t want to invade the bucks territory and jump them. Only had a spike walk in and that was it. It’s 11:30 here right now and I am going back in at 12:45pm

Where are you? Here in central IL, mature bucks are just now starting to show any interest.

In the last week we have had a surge in bigger buck movement. Bucks we only had on 1 camera showed up on all 5 over the weekend. Those 5 cameras span 200 acres

I’m not far from you in Southeastern Illinois, big boys have barely started moving here. Just small bucks lightly checking for does. Just Saturday I rattled in a small buck, and he crossed my doe drag and followed it about 10 feet then walked off uninterested.

I can tell you for a fact in Central Wisconsin they have been chasing for 3 weeks. In central Michigan pretty close to the same; as of today they are starting to get into lockdown. Saw it with my own eyes. The rut was early this year; at least from the southern shore of Lake Michigan north.

Mature bucks are fattening up. You're witnessing the remnants of the "lull" right now. Young bucks are ready, but the does aren't. That being said...we are very, very close to the lockdown period. Likely over thanksgiving...depending on where you are in the country. But the real chase is going to start kicking in as of Friday 11/10 in my books.

Three pair of doe came out of the bedding area about 20 min apart. Then a older buck showed up. All about 180 yd away and could not a good line on the buck to see about his rack. This started about 4 CST in SW Iowa. Buck followed the does but had no interest. They browsed a while, then walked off along a terrace full of dozed up trees and brush. Moved a hang stand yesterday right after lunch. Have a good shot in 3 directions if they keep moving that route. Getting to old to be putting up 5 sticks and a stand. Paying for it today. Better stick with my 16' ladder but didn't want that out there this late.

I think I figured it out. I noticed beyond the levy, the corn is still in. This is also a 55 acre corn field. I'd say the big boys are either breeding their does in there or staying low. I'm thinking of hunting throughout the indiana gun season with my bow. This is my first full season in a long time, feel like a rookie. This archery bug has me pumped!

I saw two bucks from the stand tonight, one young and one old and both were pushing does around in the timber and a food plot. Didn't see any of the old boys though until I started out of the farm with my doe after dark.

The mature guys are definitely not on lockdown yet. The smaller bucks are just starting to show interest here in Southeast Virginia

Just because it’s happening up there doesn’t mean it is here.

The rut and "lockdown" will always progress in time from North to South. That was his point. If its only beginning to start in the North, its definitely not happening in the South.

I understand the south, heck their rut don’t start until December and January. I’m from Indiana and I haven’t seen any movement period. Late October usually big bucks in my area are taking dirt naps by now.

Lots of big bucks taking dirt naps on the Team Indiana facebook page. Looks like things are rolling pretty good out there.

I **** this one at 8:05 this morning after he worked a scrape in Morgan County, IL. Only mature buck I seen and finally seen a 2 1/2 yr old about 20 minutes earlier.

Things are just starting to get going. Friday should be a good day
