I picked up a pretty nice thumb release in a bow package I just got, and I'm considering changing things up. Any advice things I should expect, changes in anchor, will my sights need to be re-adjusted, etc???

The feel, for me anyways, changed a little. My anchor is little more repeatable, but it shouldn't change your sighting too much (mine did a little, however).I personally don't see myself switching back to a finger style release.

Expect to punch yourself in the face, at least once...

Can't tell you how many guys I have seen do that... Just funny.

I did it once. But it was with a trigger release that you had to hold the trigger back to pull, then let off to shoot... okay, I did it more than once.

For just hunting I wouldn't do it but if you're doing a lot of target shooting too I find it easier to stick to the thumb release than change back and forth. I get a lot better anchor with the thumb style trigger but it's a little trickier to get anchored with heavy hunting clothes on (big collars and/or hoods in the way).

My "bet" is your anchor will change to the point to where you'll have to re-sight. The good news is....if nothing else has changed, your sight adjustment will be a "gang" adjustment (entire housing).

    Good luck.

Yep, when I mentioned having to do this when I switched, the general consensus seemed to be that I was the minority. I know that if I switch back and forth between releases, my impact is not the same and I would, like you said, have to re-sight.

I can change back and forth between my Short and Sweet and my thumb trigger and the only thing that changes is my reference point on my anchor. With the thumb or BT I put my Jaw bone between my pointer and middle finger knuckle. With my Short and Sweet I put my pointer knuckle behind my ear. I will hit in exactly the same spot regardless of which release I use.
