Most any bow of sufficient poundage will take game. Shooting Traditional bows is all about finding a bow that fits YOU.

I've got an Internature (Made by Samick) take-down that I bought cheap and it shows in the workmanship but it shoots great.. Wouldn't hesitate to hunt with it..

    Good luck and have fun.

Let me know how you like it. I'm looking for a bowfishing rig, also.

    Cheap enough!

The best bow is the one you can shoot the best. I have been building bows for a while and there are some that I make that I do not particularly like, but other people love them. Three Rivers has been around for a while and usually have quality stuff. I have only used them in the past to purchase bow making materials. But what I recieved from them has always been of good quality. And when it comes to glass bows, Its hard to go wrong.

Ok guys, thanks! I'm definitetly gonna buy this to use as a bowfishing rig but was just wondering if it would suffice as a hunting rig. It still may be a while before I actually hunt traditionally. Still having a lot of fun with the compound. :)

Jeff...I'll let you know how I like it. Judging by the reviews I'm sure I'll like it better than my PSE Kingfisher.

That will depend on the poundage you get.

The draw weights shown are measured at 28" so if you draw shorter then the DW is going to be about 3 to 4lb less per inch under 28" and if you draw longer than 28" you can add 3 to 4lb per inch of DL over 28"

Anything around the 50 to 55lb will be fine for hunting, the good thing about take downs is you dont have to buy a whole new bow, just get another set of limbs.

For a newbie I would suggest you get one around the 40 to 45lb, get your form down pat then upgrade to heavier limbs later on.;)

I'm a 28" draw on my compounds so I should be pulling 28" with a recurve...I guess. Thanks for the suggestion but thats part of the reason I'm upgrading my bowfishing rig...need more poundage.:) I forgot to mention that in my original post. The bow I have now is 45LBs but I really don't practice with it to work on my form.

Your draw length is probably an inch shorter than your compound!

Ya know if you just worked on your form and muscles practing with your current bow you might be better off. The more you practice, the more you build the muscles and might gain some DL, in doing so increasing your DW. By going to a heavier poundage bow you will most likely NOT be able to pull it back to the proper length to achive the heavier poundage.
