Hello everybody. For reasons still unknown to me I have decided to change my hunting set up. I'm not quite sure though if what I have on hand would be a good/ safe combo. I shoot at 70 lbs with a 29" draw. I have Beman ICS 300 spine shafts, 125 gr Magnus broadheads, and 100 gr inserts. I've never shot this heavy of a tip before. Do you think the 300 spine will hold up to 225gr out in front at 29" and 70 lbs?

Not well. You should be shooting 250s.

Are there like 10 new people on here all asking the same questions?

I just joined tonight, I'm new to the whole forum thing so I probably have duplicated someone's question.

no offense intended; welcome to the forum- it seems as though the FOC/Heavy Arrow Revolution is driving a lot of new people here and a lot of them have that "I shoot 65-70# and 29" draw should I be at a 350 or 300 spine" question.

By the way, I think I was tired and grumpy when I responded. Your set up is completely safe- just maybe not the best for consistent arrow flight with a big heavy fixed blade. But if everything else is tuned right you could be OK at 300 - but probably better at 250.

I have been listening/ reading about Dr. Ashby's research and listening to Troy Folwer on YouTube under, "The Ranch Fairy". I never would have thought about making some of these adjustments but the facts and proof they provide make it hard not to try it. I haven't gone to their extreme yet, these guys are shooting 200 or 250 spine arrows at 650 gr and 250+ gr tips. I figured I would settle in the middle, I still want to keep some speed.

Nice, I'm on the lake too but at the bottom near Orleans. As for the heavy as you can make trend, I'm not a believer. I think since every rig is different everyone should try to balance weight and speed. 450 to 500 is the sweet spot in my head for my rig.But hey when ppl post about breaking into the 600 I say not my pig not my farm.

That's what I'm trying to do, find a spot in the middle.
