Last season on my way home from work, I saw the white belly of a deer on the ground about 50 yards off the road in a hardwood bottom....

So I stopped and went over to it...turns out it was a doe and two yearlings were down next to her...I examined them and they did not have a mark on them....

It was during gun season...but these three deer were all under a huge whiteoak tree...now injuries at all and all fresh killed.

So yesterday, when I got to that spot, I looked over there and noticed for the first time the tree had been hit by lightning...

So maybe they got nailed by lightning....????

    Crappy way to go...

Sounds like something that should be on "1,000 ways to die".

I heard of it happening before, certainly could happen.
